Travis High School (Fort Bend County, Texas)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
William B. Travis High School [1] is a public high school located on Harlem Road, southwest of the intersection of Harlem Road and State Highway 99 (Grand Parkway) in unincorporated Fort Bend County, Texas, United States.
Travis High School, which will serve grades 9 through 12 by the 2008-2009 school year, is a part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. Although having a Richmond, Texas address, the school is located outside the city limits of Richmond; FBISD does not serve any portion of the City of Richmond. Although neighborhoods are under development alongside standing neighborhoods in that area, many detractors claim that the school is located too far from any major establishments such as supermarkets and restaurants. Standing at the front entrance of Travis, the plains of Texas stretch as far as one can see.
The school's floor plan is shared with the floor plan for another high school in the district, George Bush High School, with various cosmetic differences that identify Travis as a school separate from Bush. Various corridors are also said to be somewhat larger than their counterparts at Bush High School. The school's mascot is the Tiger and the colors are scarlet, gray, and white.
