Travelex plc is the world's biggest foreign exchange company. Its group headquarters are located in Kingsway, London, England, but the group has a number of offices in other UK and Worldwide locations.
Travelex is the world's largest foreign exchange specialist. Best known for foreign exchange outlets in airports and ports around the world, Travelex are also a leading supplier of international payments, travel assistance services and bulk shipments of currency banknotes the world over.
One of Travelex's key businesses is the supply of Travel Money Services to banks, travel agents and other institutions for their travelling customers. These services range from a simple remote ordering and delivery service, to supplying stocks or pre-packs or Travel Money and even the provision of fully staffed bureau de change implants.
Travelex also supply pre-paid cards that can be used in the same manner and locations as a credit card, with the key difference being that the card is preloaded with cash and that then becomes the limit for usage. These are popular for travel, students, or for use as reward programmes.
Travelex sponsored annual awards to travel journalists from 1995 to 2000, known as the Travelex Travel Writers' Awards. The award ceremonies were held at the Houses of Parliament in London, and the awards were considered prestigious, partly because the judges were independent and entries were anonymous. The company is also the official sponsor of the Australian cricket team for all overseas tours. [1]
