[edit] Travelogues

The majority of travel websites are online travelogues or travel journals, usually created by individuals. This medium produces a wide variety of styles, often incorporating graphics, photography, maps and unique content. Some of the most popular travel websites in 2008 are sites like Trip Advisor, where people can read reviews written by fellow travelers.[citation needed]

Some sites focus on providing a lot of content and photos, and some of them pay for articles that are sent in by travel writers. Other sites rely on user-generated content, which comes simply from putting up a form and encouraging people to submit what think about e.g. a hotel.

Many people use travel content sites to research destinations and get a feel for, or an idea of where in the world to go.[citation needed]
