Travancore is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Moonee Valley. It is located between the Tullamarine Freeway and Mt. Alexander Road, south of Ormond Road.
Travancore takes its name from Travancore House, a property owned by Henry Madden, who purchased the property from Hugh Glass in 1906 and renamed the property[1]. Henry exported horses to India (hence the property is named after the Indian state of Travancore). Many of the streetnames have Indian and Asian themes, such as Lucknow Street, Bengal Street, and Mangalore Street.
Travancore House was demolished to make way for a special education school in the 1940. The area is now occupied by Travancore Mental Health Service.
