Trapper (Hockey)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The goalie trapper/catcher/glove is a piece of equipment that also serves as a protective device for ice or roller hockey goalies.
It resembles an oversized baseball catching glove. As in baseball, it is worn on the player's non-dominant or "catching" hand (usually, left hand for a right-handed player), while the dominant hand is used to hold and play with the goalie stick (and is protected by a blocker). Goaltenders use the trapper/catcher to catch the puck in mid-flight, cover it on the ice surface or otherwise stop its movement.
