Tranvía del Este or “Puerto Madero Tramway” is a public light rail line in the Puerto Madero neighborhood of Buenos Aires operated by the rail company Ferrovías.

Construction of the first section has been completed [1] and the line was inaugurated on July 14, 2007. Initially, the service is provided by two Citadis 302 model vehicles, manufactured by the French [2] company Alstom and granted under a free concession by the city of Mulhouse. The vehicles are double-ended, bi-directional, low-floor, four section units, each section having 48 fixed seats, another 16 folding seats and standing room for a total of 300 passengers for the whole train. The vehicles, locally known by the name Celeris, run on an exclusive right-of-way for 2 km (1,25 miles) parallel to Avenida Alicia Moreau de Justo, from Avenida Córdoba to Avenida Independencia.

Further extensions planned would extended 2km to Retiro Rail Terminus and Intercity Bus Terminal and a 5.2km extension from the existing terminus at Independencia to Caminito in La Boca,[3] and a further extension to Constitucion and Buenos Aires stations is also proposed.[4]
