[edit] Roads and Bridges
The traffic in the city is primarily runs using inner, outer ring roads and main roads. Few intersections have traffic signals and video cameras to control and monitor the traffic [1], and installation of Digital traffic Signals is under planning and progress[2]. Couple of rail-over-bridges are being constructed for free flow of the traffic within the city and suburban areas. The expansion of the outer ring road is currently in planning which connects near by suburban/rural areas in all the directions. There are couple of High ways that go through the city connecting Guntur to majority of cities in India.
- Motorists, Cyclists
Two wheeler vehicles such as Motor Cycles, Scooters, Mopeds are heavily used in the city for local travel. The eco-friendly vehicles such as Bicycles and manual rickshaws are also used throughout the region for short distances.
- Auto Rickshaws
Auto Rickshaws (also called Autos) have dominated the streets in the city as compared to the city buses and other modes of transportation. The usage of Auto Rickshaw transportation has different options such as 'On Service' or 'On Hire'. The 'On Service' is more economical and requires sharing as in 'Van Pool' concept.
