Transitive Corporation is a software company providing solutions that allow the transportability of software applications across multiple hardware platforms. The company’s QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization solution allows software applications that have been compiled for one processor/operating system to run on another without any source code or binary changes and at speeds comparable to native ports. QuickTransit technology provides the engine for Apple’s Rosetta translation software and is currently shipping on all of Apple’s Intel-based computers. Transitive Corporation, which specializes in developing dynamic binary translation software, is located in Los Gatos in California with a research and development team in Manchester in the UK.

Transitive provided the engine used in Apple's Rosetta software, which translates software for Apple machines using PowerPC processors so it can run on Intel-based Macintoshes, the engine is based on Transitive Corporation's QuickTransit software.

Silicon Graphics (SGI) previously distributed QuickTransit with its Prism and Altix platforms, allowing applications written for older MIPS / IRIX machines to be used on the more recent Linux IA-64 hardware.

In November 2006, Transitive released QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/x86-64, which is an enterprise software solution that enables native Solaris/SPARC applications to run on industry-standard x86-based platforms. This was followed in October 2007 by QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/Itanium and a third product, QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Solaris/x86-64, is currently in the beta phase and expected to be released in early 2008.

IBM announced its QuickTransit-based PowerVM Lx86 software in January 2008 which enables x86 based Linux-applications to run unmodified on Power Architecture based System p hardware. This capability was previously announced in beta form in April 2007 under the name System p AVE.

Transitive Corporation has announced collaborations with Intel to develop solutions for products which translates software written for Sun Solaris using SPARC processors so it can run on the Linux operating system running Intel processors.
