Trancoso (pron. IPA[tɾɐ̃'kozu]) is a city and a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 361.5 km² and a total population of 10,639 inhabitants. City population about 3.000

The municipality is composed of 29 parishes, and is located in the District of Guarda,Region Centro; sub region:Beira Interior Norte.

The present Mayor is Júlio José Saraiva Sarmento, elected by the Social Democratic Party.

The municipal holiday is May 29. Principal monument:castle Main train station:Vila Franca das Naves/Trancoso in the Beira Alta[international line]/linha da Beira Alta.
