General Tran Van Minh (Trần Văn Minh) was born on August 19, 1923 in Saigon, Vietnam. He was sometimes known as Little Minh to distinguish him from the huge Duong Van Minh.
In 1953, he served on the Chief of Staff until 1955, reassigned as Military Zone Commander until 1957.
In 1957-59, he served as Commandant of the Military academy, and was reassigned to serve as Inspector General until 1960.
In 1964-1965, he was the Chief of General Staff and in 1956, Minister of Defense. The last position he held was Ambassador of the Republic of Vietnam to Tunis, Tunisia.
