"Traitors Never Play Hangman" is a song by the metal band, Bring Me The Horizon. It was released in mid 2006 as a promotional music video only and not released as a proper single for download or physical release sale. It is the fourth and final song featured on their debut EP, This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For. There is, as well, an acoustic version of the song.
[edit] Song Meaning
"This song is me trying to convince myself it was OK to cheat on my girlfriend, that it was like a movie plot. The overindulgence part that is spoken in the song is where I was nocturnal for a couple of days and all the days got ripped apart, and time slipped from me - and how horrible life felt. There's nothing worse than guilt. But hey, shit happens." - Oliver Sykes
This quotation is written in the album booklet with This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For and is written by frontman Oliver Sykes. The quotation written above is not how it is written exactly in the booklet, but has been edited and changed from grammar and spelling errors that it originally contains.
[edit] Music Video
The video for this song was released in mid 2006 and is available for view to this day on various sites, such as YouTube. It is also shown sometimes on music video channels such as MTV2, Kerrang!, and Scuzz. It is only shown on the television at late hours in the night on shows such as The Headbanger's Ball.
The video itself simply features the band playing a live performance of the song to a large group of Bring Me The Horizon fans at the Underworld in London. Shots alter from showing various band members to showing the audience enjoying themselves from the performance. The entire video is shot in grayscale. During the breakdown in the song it shows shots of fans in a mosh pit 'hardcore dancing'. Such mosh pits and walls of death are a popular occurrence at the band's live performances.
