[edit] Summary

Jacen Solo is captured by the Yuuzhan Vong and placed under the tutelage of Vergere, a Jedi from the days of the Old Republic who travels with the Yuuzhan Vong. Jacen escapes from the Yuuzhan Vong to the surface of Vongformed Coruscant -- now renamed Yuuzhan'tar -- with Vergere in pursuit. Jacen learns of all the abilities made possible by the Force — including the dark side — and uses his newfound knowledge to battle the Yuuzhan Vong on their own terms.

[edit] Reviews

The scenes of violence in Traitor were far more explicit than those in any previous Star Wars books, and it delved into philosophical issues rarely touched on in the Expanded Universe. Vergere teaches Jacen that there is no dark or light side of the Force, and that only a person's intentions make an action good or evil.

One review at TheForce.net called it "the greatest thing that's ever happened to the EU" and claimed that it "forces [fans] to look beyond" their traditional views of Star Wars. [1]

[edit] Original characters

Traitor was the first Star Wars novel that did not include any characters from the films.
