Training school
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Training school is an official designation, awarded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, to schools in England that provide exceptional facilities for in-service and work experience training of teachers. There are around 230 training schools.[1]
They are described "As centres of excellence for training, Training Schools act as experts in adult learning and the transfer of skills, and provide a venue for high quality professional development."[2]
The term "Training Schools" was also used to describe early examples of children's homes where destitute children in Victorian England were offered opportunities to live in residential accommodation in return for apprenticeships in specific fields in order to increase future employment prospects and thus break the destructive power of the cycle of deprivation.[citation needed]
