Trade unions in Maldives

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trade unions in Maldives are not expressly prohibited, however, ICTUR reports that there is no apparent union activity within Maldives. There are no laws providing for the creation of trade unions, nor are there protections for joining unions.

Maldives is not a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and thus has not ratified the ILO Convention #87 - Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, and ILO Convention #98 - Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention.
