Template talk:Transwikied to Wiktionary
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'd like to add a conditional parameter to this, date=, to indicate on the first line when I transwikied an item. I did not realize this template existed on Wikipedia when I started automating the Wiktionary transwikis. (I spend most of my time there; I'm mostly ignorant of these Wikipedia subtleties.)
I will change:
|This page has been transwikied to Wiktionary.<br>
to this:
|This page has been transwikied to Wiktionary{{#if:{}| on or about {date}|}}.<br>
If no one objects, I'll be bold in the next day or two, when the User:CopyToWiktionaryBot has its kinks worked out and is ready to add these talk page doobers.
The only problem I can foresee with this method, would be if some psycho comes along and subst:'s these templates (which apparently should never be subst:'ed.) But even then, I'd only generate duplicates if I re-ran the older items (which I only plan on doing once.) If there is some Wikipedia procedure I'm forgetting, please give me a heads-up on my talk page on Wiktionary. Thanks.

[edit] Reducing verbosity
I've gotten some complaints about this template as well, so I shall try to reduce the verbosity a bit. Please be bold in adding back parts that you think are really needed, but please don't revert it all. --Connel MacKenzie - wikt 03:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] small=yes
If the bot is using the wikicode - can you ensure that it is capable of handling the use of the parameter |small=yes so that talk pages that are organized in that way can have it among the small tags? --Random832 22:55, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
