Template talk:Transnistrian presidential election, 2006

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know if it is correct to list Tomaily as the Renewal candidate. He is an MP for Renewal, and a member of the party of course. I have one source (Oazu Nantoi, in Moldova) who says that Tomaily stood as a candidate on behalf of Renewal, but another one (Aleksandr Orlov, in Transnistria) who says that he stood as an independent, despite his party affiliation. So we can debate this. - Mauco 17:58, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

As long as there is not an official statement of Renewal backing Tomaily and asking voters to support him, we can not consider Tomaily as a Renewal candidate.--MariusM 20:16, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair. I guess that Oazu Nantoi's word is not good enough for you. Even so, do not remove any other sources from now on without confirmation and prior discussion. This is bordering on vandalism, and you know this full well MariusM because it is not the first time that you are displaying this behavior and gross disregard for the research work of others. - Mauco 20:47, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Be polite, Mauco. If you don't like my edits, this is not giving you the right of making personal attacks. Regarding other sources that I removed, we had long discussion about them in Transnistria talk page. Nantoi is not a member of Renewal, he is not a source for Renewal position. This party has a leadership who represent it, and can issue official statements regarding elections. We should not rely on guessing of self-declared "political analysts".--MariusM 20:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Where is the personal attack? Sorry, I fail to see it. "Bordering on vandalism" is an objective comment on your edits, based on a review of your edit log and the DIFFs, and in no way an attack on your person. I keep my eye on the ball, not on the player. - Mauco 21:49, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tiraspol Times link

Mauco, I know that you wrote for Tiraspol Times and you are pushing to include links to it in entire Wikipedia, however we don't need here this link. One link (a Russian press agncy) is enough.--MariusM 13:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I had one guest column [1] where I advocated tolerance and mutual understanding. This was an unpaid single column which they invited me to write after they saw my editing activity on Transnistria related subjects. There is no conflict of interest, as you full well know.
I was astonished at their complete lack of censorship. Pleasant surprise, and in sharp contrast to what some Romanian editors try to portray here.
Your blanket statement that we do not need this link is wrong. Of the original 3, it is the most appropiate.
In this case, the link to Tiraspol Times' election result is by far the best of the three: It is the only one which is from Transnistria (where the election was held, so this is not a small matter), it is the only one which presents the information in an easily-comparable table form, and it is the most complete. It includes the list of vice presidential runningmates, which none of the others do.
Please go easy with the accusations. I am not pushing to include any links that are not appropriate to the article. Please keep a cool head when editing, and please judge each link on its informational merit. If you try to do that, then you will see that I am right. - Mauco 13:29, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Tiraspol Times is full of censorship (we discussed this in Talk:Transnistria, now archived) and is not even a newspaper, only a website (their claim of being a newspaper is a fallacy). You were not censored because your position is in line with their position, but they censored Yakovlev and refused to show any position of antiseparatist transnistrians. Russian press agency is the best link, whyu are you pushing exactly for Tiraspol Times, not only here but in many other articles in Wikipedia?--MariusM 11:33, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

You are wrong. Tiraspol Times is a newspaper and it is the best (in fact, the only) news source in English which updates daily about Transnistria. There is a good reason why we have to refer to it: There is no other source on the face of the planet which covers Transnistria as extensively as the Tirapol Times does, in English. - Mauco 13:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tomaily

For the time being I've let both descriptions - independent (as International Herald Tribune) and MP for Renewal. However, I ask a source for Tomaily as a Renewal member. What is sure is that Renewal didn't make an appeal to voters to back him.--MariusM 11:33, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
