[edit] "Convenients" store

I added illegal dvds to the list of items cory and trevor sold. It can be seen in "High Definition Piss Jugs", when cory and trevor are advertising their store. --Dallin Tanjo22 02:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Age of Characters

In several of the character bios, age is extrapolated from a current age or birth year/date mentioned in the show. However, this assumes that the show takes place in the present. My impression was that this show takes place in the early/mid- 1990s (cell phones are older models, etc.). As such, such statements as "In the Season Three episode Who's the Microphone Assassin? J-Roc is said to be 23 years old, placing his birthdate around 1980" can not be verified. Shimrah 15:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Good point. I mean, you can't rely on an age or date that Ricky (considering his poor intelligence) can say. However, I think that they are all somewhere in their early-mid thirties, with the exception of Corey, Trevor, J-Roc, Tyrone, Lahey and Randy, given that Lahey's in his fifties and Randy's late-thirties/early forties. --Jonathan.Bruce 07:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

After a recent DVD viewing, it does appear that the show takes place in the present day. In the episode where Ray's trailer gets burned down (Season 5), Ray refers to obtaining a 35-year mortgage for the trailer in 1970 and having just paid it off (the show aired in 2005). --Astrobopper 00:21, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

What is the source for J-Roc's birthdate given on the character page (1981)? The implication seems to be that he was 29 in Season 3 when his mother asks him, "How many 29 year old record company presidents operate out of their mom's trailer, you know what I'm saying?" Cloudcuckooland 21:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External Links

I've just removed about five external links to fan forums and web sites. Firstly, I don't think they're appropriate to the page, but I'm sure some will disagree with me about that. Fine, but if they must appear (again, I don't think they should - there are plenty of official external links) then they definitely shouldn't appear near the top of the unordered list, nor should they appear with descriptions mentioning '#1' or 'best'. See WP:SPAM. --Dom 05:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

To Dom,
Many of the links had been editted beyond what they were originally posted as.. I'm sure a 'normal' list wouldn't be out of the question..
The 'Official' sites don't get updated at all, and contain very little information about the show. Anyone trying to get their questions answered via the official sites, will end up wasting an awful lot of time. I'm sure this is the reason the "unofficial" sites were added to the list.. remove them again if you want.. but you're only doing a dis-service to the fans who actually want to find out information about the show that is very scarce on the 'Official' sites, or be able to talk with like-minded people about their favourite TV series.
Please sign your posts. I've just removed them again. As I said, I don't mind a small, informative unordered list. A description of each page just isn't necessary and just encourages the descriptions to grow (as they recently did) into spam. Please, read the policy and stick to it. --Dom 15:05, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I mean, seriously, what I just deleted was terrible. The same link twice, neither time formatted in a link, with another site (other than the .org) added a couple of paragraphs down. Then there was the WP:WEASEL words - unsourced statements about the site being considered number one by "many"! This wouldn't be acceptable in the main text of an article, and there's no reason it's ite does boast the largest uncontested fan user base, has cast members visiting and posting, and has been endorsed by writer/directoracceptable here. --Dom 15:09, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I suppose the unsourced statements about it being considered number one by 'many' weren't needed, however the s Mike Clattenburg here - http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php?topic=1403.msg23020#msg23020 - so I hope you can at least understand where the statements came from, and why they were added. I don't "sign" my posts because I'm not a registered user here, and never had any need to be one, or edit anything here - I didn't add the link to the .org site to begin with, that's for sure.
And I apologize for not knowing the ins & outs of Wikipedia - and posted the link in the talk section, before re-posting on the main page.. My fault. Sorry for adding descriptions, but as a long time internet user, I find it's handy to know what the link you're clicking is going to, especially with 'unofficial' pages, again I apologize for not following policies/guidelines.
Right, so, to compromise: how about we add the .org to the external links section for now, with a simple 'fan forum'-type short description? I'm convinced it's notable enough. Then we can decide what other sites should go into a list of unoffical websites, and come up with nice, clear, NPOV descriptions for them - once we've got a set we're happy with we can police them for hyperbole better. --Dom 04:15, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

The 'Number One' business repeated itself. Removed again, as per WP:SPAM. --Dom 12:02, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you User:Domster. In addition, it's okay to not know the ins and outs of this site here, since you're not registered, but it was a honest mistake. Nothing to worry about. --Jonathan.Bruce 7:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposition to Merge Rickyisms & Laheyisms into Trailer Park Boys

I don't think this is a good idea, i think it should stay as seperate articles; its just too much and not completely relevant to this article, maybe there can be headings for the two articles with a 'See main Article' underneath.. jerkmonkee 05:57, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Just because they are merged doesn't mean they have to stay intact, the two articles need to be drastically condensed. Yanksox 11:49, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

They Should not be condensed

Why? Yanksox 15:17, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

It is plain silly to have a separate article for "Rickeyisms" and "Laheyisms" is just silly. Neither of these is sensible enough to stand alone and most certainly ought to be included in the main TPB article. The merge will take absolutely nothing away from either of these articles (which are fine and ought to be kept in some form), much like the list of the TPBs' Money-Making Schemes which has been included in the main page. I support the merge fully. --Ben iarwain 05:37, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Because they provide valuable information to the reader. Why should it be reduced, leave it the way it is.

Falkaholic I use "Rickeyisms" and "Laheyisms" in everyday life, and I'm not the only one. Seems they are now seperate. Could turn into something like Calvinisms or Lutherisms. --Falkaholic 18:49, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

No, they would clutter the main article. Maybe move to wikiquote?

I think the most sensible solution is to move the Rickyisms and Laheyisms to Wikiquote, but link to them as such on the main TPB page.

I was actually thinking of this the other night, I would prefer that it was on the main page, as it is a popular part of the show, similar to the trivia. --Stevegillan 00:53, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] J-Roc, JRoc, jRoc

After watching the "Who's the Microphone Assassin?" episode (Season Three Ep. Four), it occurred to me that JRoc and J-Roc may in fact be incorrect. I would like verification and am suggesting that changes be made to the characters name here @ Trailer Park Boys. The sign used near the end of the episode, displays a lowercase 'j' and an uppercase 'R' (jRoc). Unless I am mistaken, I'd like to change the names used in this article. Thoughts?

To be honest, I dunno about how to spell his name, either J-Roc, JROC, or J ROCK, beats me... --Jonathan.Bruce 7:04, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

--Houseofhack 10:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind. After reviewing ep. 1 season 1, I realized that he is referred to as J-ROC. --HoH 13:49, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] X-mas Special

If the Christmas Special takes place in 1997, why are there cameras there? They only arrived when Julian got out of jail...(am I putting too much thought into this? :)) Adam Bishop 05:21, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Since it is a Christmas Special, it doesn't follow the documentary style. It is more of a flashback which establishes what the characters were like in 1997. mpiff 03:48, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Character Descriptions

I'm positive that Lahey was not fired for marijuana. In his own words he says "It basically came down to two options so I resigned." Which is a lie.
Ricky, on a number of occasions, states that he got fired from the force for drinking. And being that Lahey is constantly drunk it only makes sense. Proof positive will be given but for now I'm going to change his bio. Sveden 17:38, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

In the Christmas episode flashback, they make it clear that he lost his job because of his drinking. I'd have to watch it again, but I think it was Barb who says so when she forbids Jim to drink (which he does, and so she leaves him). Biff Loman 12:55, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
It was explained on Season 6 (Episode: Hallowe'en 1977) why he was fired from the force. It was because Officer Green (his partner) smelt booze on him that he spilled while confiscating from Julien. The spill was on his crotch so it looked like he pissed himself. Stevegillan

Please note that the "Bottle Kids" are actually different children or teenagers in each episode they are featured. Mike Clattenburg has had many locals from the Maritimes play "Bottle Kids" .

Also, it is speculated that Danny is featured in the episode "Rub 'N Tiz'zug". After sending Cory and Trevor into the trailer containing the "Rub 'N Tug" booths, Bubbles points at two customers who are actively hiding their faces and says "Okay, You two guys are up, just head on in there". After a short scene in which Cyrus arrives, Danny is heard screaming from inside the trailer; "GET YOUR HANDS OFF IT! I PAID FOR A LADY, NOT FUCKING CORY AND TREVOR!", therefor Danny must be one of the men that is ushered into the trailer by Bubbles.

-C.M.L -"The trailer's a mess and I find you two here jerking off men? C'mon Cory and Trevor, let's go".

Is Randy also the toughest guy in the park as stated in his bio?? Seems to me that Ricky is continually putting him in half-nelson holds and he rarely, if ever, fights back. He also got spanked in the wrestling match until he cheated and Bubbles really let him have it in the vet clinic!!

[edit] Julian's bio

Most the Wikipedia info on Julian is taken from a bio on the Showcase website, however, it doesn't appear to fit with what has been established on the show.

Levi and Desiree appear in season one and Julian is friends with the couple, but no mention is made of them raising Julian.

The bio also says he doesn't know his biological parents or any blood relatives. However, in the first Trailer Park Boys movie, Julian speaks about his father. He tells a story of his father coming home one night, slipping on dog pee and falling. He then forces Julian to shoot his puppy.

In the series, Mrs. Peterson does act as though she is Julian's grandmother, but he also has a real grandmother. They are referred to separately on the show, and indication is Julian's grandmother is either dead or has left the park. In one show, Bubbles says Julian's grandmother was a heavy drinker and used to own the car Ricky now lives in. In addition, Mrs. Peterson still lives in the park, but in season five, Randy and Lahey are living in Julian's grandmother's old trailer.

The first Trailer Park Boys movie is not TPB canon; much of its story lines do not flow with the show. - Jord 15:28, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I've never seen an interview or anything that said the movie wasn't canon. The very first episode of the series begins with a flash back to the movie, to show why the guys are in jail. Then, in the Christmas special, which takes place before the movie and series, we see Julian's black corvette, the one from the movie, sitting in the driveway. - DJM

There is no reason to believe that the pilot movie is not canon. 64.228.138.66 01:22, 13 February 2006 (UTC) kingofawesome

The movie has absolutely nothing to do with the show. The characters on the show, although criminals, are kind of lovable. In the movie, they're disgusting, hideous people who make a living killing pets. The reason Ricky and Julian were in jail at the start of the TV series has absolutely nothing to do with the events of the movie. I'd suggest rewatching the movie (if you can stand it, it's so bad) and then episode one, season one of the TV show. The one has nothing to do with the other. Biff Loman 11:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The issue of canon

I have no reason to believe that any of the TPB cast or honchos care much about canon. Mike Volpe has said (on the special that aired tonight, which at this hour I can't remember the name of but I will edit it in) that the first three shorts were made on a wing and a prayer with somewhat of an evolutionary approach, rather than building off the previous. Ricky and Julian certainly don't seem like the gun-toting, kitten-head-blasting types of the first (?) short. It could be that, like in Red Dwarf, certain things just didn't fit or were never supposed to fit, and so were ignored. Of course, unlike Red Dwarf, TPB has fairly solid continuity during its regular season episodes.

[edit] Bottle Kids

This is a bit out of place, but if anyone can suggest a better place to ask it, please do so. Do real bottles behave in the manner shown on TPB? Surely not: a 26er would surely shatter a car window -- and if not, a shower of dozens of 26ers would. What are those TPB "bottle kid" bottles made from? And if they are normal bottles (not believin' it for a second), yikes.

They are most likely made from that fake glass stuff that is usually used in tv shows and movies. It looks the same as glass, but is very brittle, and can shatter just from squeezing it. DemonWeb 20:07, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
It would depend on the force with which it hits. I've never tried chucking dozens of bottles at a car, but a car windshield is pretty thick and I would say even a shower of 26ers would not shatter it, but maybe crack it - as has happened, I think, on the show. Biff Loman 12:57, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
I've thrown bottles similar in size to those used in the show, at car windows, and yes, they do shatter. Very rarely, however, was I able to knock the glass completely out of the pane. It's usually shattered, but confined in a thin plastic layering on both sides of the windows that prevent it from sending glass every which way. --Houseofhack 11:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
The bottles are probably made out of Sugar Glass basically a substance like glass that is made out of...you guessed it, Sugar. Its commonly used for fake glass...but this is just a guess -George Renner June 6th 2006
In one of the commentaries, on the Season 1 & 2 dvd, Mike Clattenburg says they are made out of sugarglass

[edit] The Movie "The Big Dirty"

I'm not sure who posted that, but the movie is definitely being advertised as "Baked on a True Story" in Halifax and the rest of Eastern Canada. Can anyone from central or western Canada confirm this?

It's not being advertised on TV or anything out here (Alberta), but all internet media is definitely calling it "Baked on a True Story."

I thought the first 'movie' as the article calls it was actually just a pre-production teaser, not an actual movie. May have this wrong though, maybe someone else knows better

No, As imdb states the title is infact "the big dirty". I live in dartmouth, and the title "big dirty" is also used on local radio stations.

[edit] Cory and Trevor leaving the show

Cory Bowles and Michael Jackson confirmed on a TPB fansite forum ( http://www.trailerparkboys.org ) that season 6 is the final season they will appear in. Both will be leaving the show and moving on to other projects.

Old news. Season 7 has already begun shooting without them. Cory Bowles has completed shooting North/South - a daytime soap and is touring Canada with his band AIDE-DE-CAMP. Yankees76 03:41, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian Home Grown Phenomenons

Since when is a home grown phenomenon a rarity in English Canada? I live just south of the border in Seattle, making frequent trips to Vancouver BC to see family, and get the CBC piped into my Seattle home, and I have seen quite a few homegrown English Canadian phenoms. Da Vinci's Inquest for one, off the top of my head. This Hour has 22 Minutes is another. Brent Butt is a world-renound comedian with his show Corner Gas getting critical acclaim all over. CBC, in coalition with the Sci Fi Channel and BBC was responsible for producing the international phenomenon that was the 2005 Doctor Who series. Honestly, I have no idea where this remark came from. --The reverend 09:01, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Maybe take out "rarity". But, not being from Canada, I must say TPB is one of the most famous television shows internationally...

[edit] Characters Page Split

Would there be support to split the Cast and Characters section off into a seperate page (a la, say, List of characters from The Simpsons)? The page seems to be getting a bit long to be easily managable; I think splitting it off would help us keep the writing focussed (and the amount of text in the characters section is getting a bit intimidating). --Dom 04:23, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Moved to bottom of page, merged with Davey's sentiments --Dom 05:38, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Maybe we should split the section into individual character articles for the main ones. The section is oo long at the moment. Davey4 11:33, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

yeah, too long. Do something like the simpsons. Adam Wang 01:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I agree, Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Lahey and Randy could all warrent their own pages, so a characters page would do in the very least. Pretzolio@yahoo.com 22:54, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I would agree let's split it out. As this has been being discussed for a while without objection, I will do that now. - Jord 18:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

what is the music one trailer park boys season 1 in the backgorund . this is blues music but what song is it

The page was edited to say Season 7 was the series finale. I can't this corroborated anywhere and the reference provided certainly does not. This should be removed until we know for sure.

Agree. Hemidemisemiquaver 03:09, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

According to the forums at The Trailer Park Boys.org (http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php) website, where the cast and crew post semi-regularly, the cast is taking a break and has no plans to film a Season 8. They will, however, create a one-hour special, according to this post: http://www.trailerparkboys.org/forums/index.php?topic=7961.0.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Trailerparkboys season 3.PNG

Image:Trailerparkboys season 3.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

[edit] I still dont get it

i saw them doing an interview on tom greens house, and i dont get it, is the show real or based on real events or something? or is it all fake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clone627 (talkcontribs) 03:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Ha ha, I recently saw that tom green’s house interview too, and it was classic material of 'the boyz'. It’s tough to use the word ‘fake’, but if you want the simple answer, then yes, it is all an act, and that’s what they were continuing to do on tom’s show, just like they do during many media events. They continue in character as a gimmick, which adds to the 'mockumentary' feel of the series. It is rare for them to appear ‘out-of-character’, even in magazine interviews. In this, they are consummate professionals and skilled at the ad-lib, and that is why the act can be confusing to anyone who hasn’t soaked up the episodes of the series. Still, I imagine that their ‘non-character’ personalities are somewhat similar (in demeanour).- BBlze1 (talk) 00:57, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
