[edit] Requested move

Tracy Wilson (figure skater)Tracy Wilson — The two other links on the dab page don't exist, and one that did exist was deleted for being an attack page. No reason to dab if there aren't any other pages. —●DanMSTalk 03:15, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Survey

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Oppose. There is nothing to be gained by moving this page. Another Tracy Wilson (a not uncommon name) could appear later and this would have to moved again. The other red links on the disambig page could become blue links at any time. ●DanMSTalk 03:20, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
I should elaborate a little further. The problem with this kind of move request, which we get frequently, is that each contributor wants to advance his own favorite candidate as the primary link, and relegate the others to a disambiguation page. We get into these long, tiresome, fruitless discussions of who is the most important/best known/most famous/most notable John Doe or Jane Roe. Much better to cut off such a debate before it starts. ●DanMSTalk 03:45, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Any additional comments:

Original request by Kolindigo 00:17, 30 July 2007 (UTC). Moved from Requested moves page. ●DanMSTalk 03:15, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, DanMS, but you're wrong. Policy is fairly clear on this. Disambiguation is not concerned with articles we might have at some future date, but only with those we have now. If another Tracy Wilson article is written, then we can re-think the situation, but until then, this is a clear case for moving. This article has been renamed from Tracy Wilson (figure skater) to Tracy Wilson as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 08:24, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
