- 1890 – The Mito Railway, in Japan, operates its first freight trains.
- 1904 – New York City Subway's IRT White Plains Road Line opens serving stations between 180th Street-Bronx Park and Jackson Avenue.
- 2005 – The two trains of the Seattle Center Monorail collide at a "pinch point" (pictured) near the Westlake Center station.
