- 1925 – Seaboard Air Line introduces the Orange Blossom Special passenger train.
- 1980 – The Burlington Northern Railroad acquires the St. Louis - San Francisco Railway (commonly known as the "Frisco").
- 1986 – The Florida Central Railroad begins operations in Florida.
- 1996 – Limited freight service in the Channel Tunnel resumes while construction crews make repairs at the location of the fire three days earlier.
