This is a tractor power take-off. The PTO is a device that is located on the back of farming tractors. Some farming implements have a shaft that is plugged into the PTO. The PTO rotates the shaft using power from the tractor engine, and the shaft transfers the power to the implement to perform certain functions. This picture was taken by en:user:jesster79 in May of 2004.
