Transmetals are a type of Transformer technology in the fictional Transformers Universes.

First named by Rattrap in Season Two of the Beast Wars series, it was a term used to described Maximals and Predacons whose alternate forms were formerly organic looking beasts, but had become more mechanical looking after the effects of a quantum wave altered them. These transmetals usually had some vehiclular aspect added to their form, such as the dragster-like wheels of Rattrap's rat form or the hovercraft engines added to Megatron's dinosaur form.

Transmetal technology is created from a quantum surge which “mutates” a Cybertronian from his/her original form and has these three features:

1) A metalized robotic animal alternate form
2) An organic influenced robot mode
3) A “Vehicle Mode”, having such things as engines, jets, wheels, etc etc

A quantum surge is created when Vok artificial moon is destroyed. It is unknown if any other civilizations could replicated this surge artificially.
