Toyland Tours

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Toyland Tours is a former attraction that replaced Around the World in 80 Days in the Tabolt Street area of Alton Towers theme park, Staffordshire, England. The attraction was opened in 1994, it took riders on a boat tour of a toy factory, passing by various scenes such as, a Snailextrics circuit, Bouncy Castles (with the castles doing the bouncing) and a scene featuring the Sega mascot Sonic the Hedgehog. The soundtrack to the ride was and is still considered one of the most popular to be produced in the park and ws available to buy in the park on tape and CD with the Haunted House soundtrack. The ride was left to decay towards the end of it's time at Alton Towers, and when it received no attention unlike the rest of the park in the 2004/2005 closed season, rumours began that it may be replaced soon. Sure enough, not very long into the 2005 season it was announced that Toyland Tours would be closing, to make way for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory : The Ride in 2006.
