The Toy District [1] is located in the industrial section of eastern Downtown Los Angeles, roughly bounded by Los Angeles Street on the West, Third and Fifth Streets to the North and South, and extending eastward to San Pedro Street. The Toy District emerged in the 1970s, primarily due to the efforts of the Woo family. During the day the district has several retail stores that specialize in inexpensive novelties and electronics, primarily imported from China. Most stores are open 9 to 5 Monday through Saturday.
