[edit] NOTE REGARDING THE TIMELINE
Until Toyota releases a press release regarding the 2009 Corolla and whatever happens to the Matrix, DO NOT UPDATE THE TIMELINE BASED ON A RUMOR. Do NOT list the Auris or the Blade as the successor to the Matrix, either, until solid information is released BY TOYOTA'S PR DEPARTMENT, NOT "INSIDERS". [edit] Hybrid Auris
The BBC have now changed the part of the report on their website that read 'The cash is to build a hybrid engine for its new Auris model' to say 'petrol engine'. The related video clip on the BBC site still ends with the reporter saying 'So hybrid cars seem to be the cars of the future and Toyota is on the crest of that wave' but the editing seems a little odd and I wonder if Toyota asked the BBC to play down the hybrid aspect. I think I'll leave the mention of a hybrid system for the present but it will be interesting to see what appears elsewhere. --Cavrdg 20:06, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hybrid Auris Text
On 26 February 2007, Toyota announced an investment of GBP 100 million in its Deeside engine factory to build a hybrid engine for the Auris.[1]
I moved the above from the page since it is misleading. Hopefully things will change and we can move it back.

I've put the line back in but with petrol rather than hybrid, in line with the changed BBC report. There's still no mention on the TMUK site even of the Auris launch. --Cavrdg 10:42, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
The TMUK site has now been updated with a new URL for the news section. There's not much in the way of further information in the relevantpress release but it does confirm that it will be a Toyota ZR engine. --Cavrdg 20:36, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
