Townie

- Townie is a term commonly used in university towns to refer to residents not affiliated with the university.

- Residents of Boston are often referred to as Townies by other New Englanders, specifically those from the neighborhood of Charlestown.
- Townie can mean an urban youth or a form of Chav, but without the anti-social behaviour etc.
- Townie is a term used by rural residents to describe people who come from urban areas, particularly when they move to a rural area and complain about farmyard smells and other characteristics of rural life.
