Towne Park is a condominium community, consisting of six buildings, with 16 apartments in each one. (It is more formally known as Towne Park North, but most people drop the North.) Towne Park has a clubhouse, pool and is centrally located in Stuart, Florida on SE Central Parkway, near SE Federal Highway (U.S. 1). It is in proximity to shopping, golf courses, and beaches. A shopping plaza with supermarket, pharmacy, bakery/cyber-cafe, video rentals, and other amenities is 2 blocks walking distance away. The buildings were constructed in 1982, though the clubhouse and many of the units have been renovated/updated since then.
This area took two direct hits in September, 2004 from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. Fortunately, only trees (47) were lost in Towne Park; no roofs came off the buildings and none of the trees fell on any cars. There were no injuries to any of the residents. (This was not the first time that hurricanes have made landfall near Stuart, but each time Towne Parke has escaped with little or no damage to the buildings. It appears to be sheltered by a motel and a broad office building that lie about a block away in the direction of the ocean.)
