The Tour of Utah is a U.S. professional road bicycle racing stage race across the state of Utah. The tour evolved from a regional race known as the Thanksgiving Point Stage Race, to the Tour of Utah in 2004. The event was founded and managed by a local family of cycling enthusiasts until 2007. Following the completion of the 2006 tour the event was purchased by the Larry H. Miller group. Since its first edition in 2004 the Tour of Utah has been recognized as America's "toughest tour" each year the cyclists have been challenged by some of Utah's most epic climbs and diverse terrain. The tour was given UCI status following the successful completion of the 2006 event, however the 2007 edition of the race, scheduled for July 2-7, was postponed due to a lack of sponsorship. The race will resume August 13th 2008 featuring some of the top teams in the country.
