Tostitos

Tostitos is a brand of tortilla chips and (more recently) dips produced by Frito-Lay and introduced in 1979, with national distribution reached in 1981. They are made from all-white corn and do indeed contain trans fat in the form of partially hydrogenated soybean oil despite the "0 grams trans fat" label[1] . Traditionally, Tostitos chips contain no extra flavoring or preservatives, and thus are advertised to be suited for dipping. They are lightly salted, though less than the average cracker, so barely noticeable. Chips are about 1 ⅓ of an inch in diameter, and are often eaten with salsa or nacho cheese dip, which the company also makes.
There are several varieties of Tostitos chips:
- Tostitos Gold (and bite size Gold) - a thicker and larger version of the original, advertised to hold the thickest of dips; the bite size chips are smaller.
- Tostitos Hint of Lime - a version with a lime flavoring added.
Ingredients: Whole White Corn, Vegetable Oil (Contains One or More of the Following: Corn, Sunflower, or Soybean Oil), and Less Than 2% of the Following: Salt, Maltodextrin, Lime Juice Powder, Natural Lime Flavor, Sugar, Monosodium Glutamate, Sour Cream (Cultured Cream, Nonfat Milk), Whey, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Dextrose, Dry Buttermilk, Corn Starch, Gum Arabic, Glycerol, Artificual Color (Blue 1 and Red 40), Sodium Diacetate, and Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil. Contains Milk Ingredients.
- Tostitos Multigrain - made with whole wheats and grains.
- Tostitos Flour Tortilla - made with flour (instead of just corn) for a milder flavor for dipping with a broader range of dips beyond Mexican-style dips (salsa, queso/cheese dip, etc).
- Tostitos Restaurant Style - A much larger triangular style chip, similar to what is used in traditional Mexican-style restaurants. Also available in Light, made with olestra reducing fat and calories.
- Tostitos Scoops - a tortilla chip molded into the shape of a bowl that allows for scooping salsas and dips. Also available in Baked, with 1/2 less fat.
- Tostitos Natural - an organic tortilla chip that contains no artificial ingredients. Available in blue corn and yellow corn.
- Tostitos Rounds (and bite size Rounds) - made to be flat and cut in a perfect circle; the bite size chips are smaller.

Since 1995, Tostitos has been the title sponsor of the Fiesta Bowl, one of the four bowl games which make up the Bowl Championship Series, the unofficial national championship of the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A). The game was played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona through 2006 before moving to University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona in 2007.
Following the 2006 season, Tostitos was the title sponsor for the BCS National Championship Game, a new game matching the number one and two teams in the final BCS standings. The title sponsor for the championship game rotates depending upon which site is hosting the 1 vs. 2 matchup. The 2007 game was sponsored by Allstate, which sponsors the Sugar Bowl.
