[edit] Hold it - need to check

I did not write this article. However, I see that one can Email it's webmaster at shaya@shayadesign.com and I will do so asking for permission to use the material. IZAK 06:40, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

  • This was the Email I sent, I am awaiting a response IZAK 06:58, 13 January 2006 (UTC):
I am Emailing you to ask about the copyright status of the information on the website at http://tosfos.net/ The reason for this inquiry is because an article about "Tosafists" at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tosafists was written on Wikipedia, the FREE Internet encyclopedia to which anyone can contribute, that seems to use much material from the site at http://tosfos.net/ So the question is: Is there any sort of copyright problem by using the information from http://tosfos.net/ on Wikipedia's site and is it ok to use the information on Wikipedia's website? (By the way, Wikipedia basically does NOT retain any copyright to anything published on its website as it is "open-sourced" and allows anyone to re-use it's articles, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights ) Please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can convey your views and decision to the Wikipedia editors and administrators who are deciding if they should delete the Wikipedia article or have it re-written.

[edit] A word of caution re: copyvio

If it is determined that the text is a copyvio, and permission is not granted to use it, keep in mind the text in question refers exclusively to the article lead (the first 2 paragraphs). Most of the rest of the article is cut and pasted from the online Jewish Encyclopedia's article on Tosafot. Tomertalk 07:48, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
