Torreano (Slovenian Tavorjana) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 60 km northwest of Trieste and about 15 km northeast of Udine, on the border with Slovenia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,301 and an area of 34.9 km².[1] According to the census 1971 24,5% of the population are Slovenians.
Torreano borders the following municipalities: Kobarid (Slovenia), Cividale del Friuli, Faedis, Moimacco, Pulfero, San Pietro al Natisone.
