Toronto Comicon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Toronto Comicon is a slang way of saying Toronto Comic Book Convention (another alternate slang term is "Toronto Comic Con").
During the 1980's, 1990's and into the 21st century numerous companies have utilized the term (or a variation of it) to promote single day comic book conventions in the city of Toronto, Canada.
Currently two companies in Toronto are promoting events called Toronto Comicon/ComiCON:
- HobbyStar Marketing, who also put on the annual Fan Expo Canada (the comic book subdivisions of that annual event is referred to as Canadian National Comic Book Expo" or the "Comic Book Expo"). HobbyStar brands their single day fall and winter shows as "Toronto ComiCON", as well as a 2-day event in the spring that includes one of the days designated as the annual "Fan Appreciation Day" which includes a free admission program held in conjunction with participating Toronto-area comic book stores. All HobbyStar events are held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
- Toronto comic book store Paradise Comics, holds an annual event that they called at first the Toronto Comicon, but later began referring to it as the Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon. As of 2008, the Paradise show is held at the Holiday Inn on King.
