Torghut

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Torghut are one of the four major sub-tribes of the Oirat people. In Russia, they are called Kalmyk. In China and Mongolia, they are called Oirat. Their name is also variously romanized as Torgut, Torghuud, Torguud, or Turgŭt.

They were royal bodyguards of Great khans before Kublai khan.
