Tor Halvorsen

Tor Halvorsen (born 24 November 1930 in Skien, died 4 November 1987) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party.
As an elected politician he served in the position of deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Buskerud in during the terms 1969–1973. On the local level he was a member of Skien municipality council from 1963 to 1971.
He was named Minister of the Environment in 1973 during the second cabinet Bratteli, but during a cabinet reshuffle in 1974 he became Minister of Social Affairs, sitting through the period. His cabinet participation interrupted his spell as secretary of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, a position he held in the periods 1969–1973 and 1976–1977. He then headed the organization until his death.
