[edit] SERMs for prostate cancer?

I'm just curious how selective antagonism of estrogen receptors would prevent prostate cancer! JFW | T@lk 05:18, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, was tired and forgot the source - I see you inserted the same one as on the prostate cancer page. The pharmacology of hormonal therapy for prostate cancer is fascinating! I understand that it's more the agonism centrally which leads to feedback GnRH suppression, leading to decreased LH->testosterone synthesis. In any event, I was surprised to learn that this drug was being licensed from the developer under two trade names (one for prostate and one for breast cancer) and that, originally, each trade name was being supported by a different company! I didn't copy the source, but it was the result of my own PubMed efforts :-). The use of different tradenames is nothing new (Proscar/Propecia, Viagra/Revatio), but the support issue is funny.

[edit] Ormeloxifene main article needs editors

I've tried posting in Wikiproject:Clinical medicine, and have found few who know anything about ormeloxifene. Especially needed are chemists, scientists, and doctors who are knowledgable about this SERM. Thank you~ -- Joie de Vivre 14:42, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
