Tope started singing as early as age seven, taking after her mother who was a church chorister. Tope began her show business career as a teenager when she ran away from home to join a popular comedy group, "Jacob & Papalolo," in Ibadan, as an actress.
Tope Alabi, also known as "Oore ti o common," (uncommon favor), born in Ibadan, is a Nigerian gospel singer and multi-platinum artist who has received several awards.
Tope left the group after the death of one of its members, Jacob. She later worked with other popular traveling and stage theater groups in both Ibadan and Lagos. Alabi is quite prominent in the Yoruba film genre of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, many Yoruba film lovers would not even support any Yoruba film producer whose credit line-up does not include a "music by Tope Alabi." Tope metamorphosed into gospel music after she became a born-again Christian. ever since, she has striven to combine her gospel music together with singing in Nigerian films. and she has created three albums to date, including her debut album "Oore ti o Common, Certificate (Iwe Eri), and her recent two in one album; Agbara Re Ni & Agbara Olorun.
