From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Description

The Wikipedia extension makes editing of Wikipedia pages in Mozilla or Firefox easier by adding a new toolbar to your browser and by providing new menu items in the context menu.

Installation

See [1]. Click "Download" then choose a version number to install. We recommend that you use the latest stable version.

Do you use Firefox 2?

This extension doesn't work as is with the new Firefox 2, but there is a simple guide that will help you to enable this extension in new Firefox versions.
In order to install the extension in version 2.0 first it is necessary to modify the add-on to allow the installation:
  • Select the version you want to use. Version 0.8 (latest) doesn't work. Choose version 0.7.1 (stable).
  • Save the add-on file.
  • change the extension of the file from xpi to zip.
  • Open it with a program that allows the edition of zip files, like 7-Zip.
  • Find the Install.rdf file and right-select edit.
  • Search for <command post: maxVersion> and change the value from 1.5 to 3.0, for example.
  • Save the changes and change back the file extension to xpi.
  • Install it in firefox, now there will not be any problem.

There is a mailing list which lets you contact the team of Wikipedians who wrote the extension.
