From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Description
- The Wikipedia extension makes editing of Wikipedia pages in Mozilla or Firefox easier by adding a new toolbar to your browser and by providing new menu items in the context menu.
Installation
- See [1]. Click "Download" then choose a version number to install. We recommend that you use the latest stable version.
Do you use Firefox 2?
- This extension doesn't work as is with the new Firefox 2, but there is a simple guide that will help you to enable this extension in new Firefox versions.
- In order to install the extension in version 2.0 first it is necessary to modify the add-on to allow the installation:
- Select the version you want to use. Version 0.8 (latest) doesn't work. Choose version 0.7.1 (stable).
- Save the add-on file.
- change the extension of the file from xpi to zip.
- Open it with a program that allows the edition of zip files, like 7-Zip.
- Find the Install.rdf file and right-select edit.
- Search for <command post: maxVersion> and change the value from 1.5 to 3.0, for example.
- Save the changes and change back the file extension to xpi.
- Install it in firefox, now there will not be any problem.
There is a mailing list which lets you contact the team of Wikipedians who wrote the extension.
