Tony Piccolo is the newly elected member in the electoral district of Light. He managed to win this seat in the 2006 SA election with 52.1% on two party preference, a swing of 4.9% against the incumbent Liberal member, Malcolm Buckby.

Light was last held by the Australian Labor Party's Sydney McHugh (an ALP politician who also held the seat of Wakefield) in 1941 - 1944 for a single four year term and has only been held by the ALP twice in South Australian history.
