[edit] Relationships

Tony has dated many of the women in Hollyoaks.

Ciara Gallagher:

Tony started off dating Ciara Gallagher, his first love, and they developed an on and off relationship, which was never stable. Tony then announced his engagement to Julie, but when their wedding day arrived, Julie told him that she could not go through with it. Although he was initially shocked, these feelings soon turned to relief.

Tessie:

Tony's next shock came when his ex-girlfriend, Tessie, turned up and told him she was pregnant with his child and that she wanted money. He gave Tessie some money but later found out that she had been lying to get revenge on him for breaking up with her.

Jasmine Bates:

Tony then briefly dated Jasmine Bates, but she left him because she thought he was too boring. Tony than opened up his own small video shop called ‘Got it Taped’, however Tony had to close it when a cinema was opened nearby.

Lucy Benson:

Tony was then stunned to hear that Rob Hawthorne had kidnapped Lucy Benson and put her in a watertank. Tony, with help from Lewis Richardson and Ruth Osborne, went to rescue her. When Tony, Lewis and Ruth arrived to help Lucy, she had reached hypothermia in the tank, provoking Tony to reveal his true feelings for her. Rob had doubted their resilience, but with great bravery from Tony, they managed to escape.

Tony then began to date Lucy, and started working for Andy Morgan in 'Deva' as a chef. Tony also began a small, friendly rivalry with Rory Finnigan. Tony was devastated when Lucy told him that she wanted to leave Hollyoaks and go travelling, and did so, leaving him heartbroken behind.

Carol Groves:

To get his mind off Lucy, Tony invested in a house and became a student landlord. Tony got more shocking news when he discovered that Finn was copulating with his mother Victoria, and he took the news badly. Tony then found out that Finn and Victoria were going to get married, which would make Finn his stepfather. In the late night special Hollyoaks: Boys Do Barca, during the stag night, the boys went to Barcelona and the two started talking. By the end of their trip, Tony was convinced that Finn did genuinely love his mother. While in Barcelona, Tony fell for Carol Groves and realized that Carol was the girl of his dreams. Tony tried to persuade her to move from Barcelona to Hollyoaks with him, and although Carol told him she couldn't, she promised Tony that one day she would return to him.

[edit] Recycling scheme

Tony came up with a new scheme to save money, as he implemented a recycling system in his house for the student tenants. He encouraged the students to eat a high fibre diet after learning that the more waste his new system collected, the more money he got. He ultimately discovered that as a result of his recycling system, he was drinking his own urine, but decided not to tell the students. However, his secret did not last long, and when Tony 's tenants found out about the system, they took revenge by tying Tony up and pelting him with sponges of his ‘special’ water. Later, Tony would be horrified to find that his septic tank exploded, covering his mother and causing his house to be condemned by the Environmental Health.

[edit] Tony moves on

Tony then decided to run for council, but was defeated by Gordon Cunningham. Finn and Ruth then both told Tony to buy out Lewis’ share at The Loft because of his financial problems. Tony agreed, and Finn repaid the favor by investing into Tony’s new restaurant. Moving away from Hollyoaks Village with Ruth and Finn, Tony focused on his new business venture ‘Gnosh’, in Hollyoaks: Movin' On. He received bad news that Ruth had been beaten by Lewis, and Lewis later attempted suicide after realizing what he had done to Ruth. He later died in hospital. Tony was than asked by Lewis's mum Helen to perform the eulogy at Lewis’s funeral. Tony had no choice but to accept.

[edit] Two timer

After what had happened to Lewis, Tony decided to make the most out of his life, and moved back to Hollyoaks Village to concentrate on running The Loft. Finn had decided to leave Hollyoaks, leaving Tony lonely with Ruth also leaving (to London). Tony started dating Izzy Cornwell, however, he felt like returning to his past and made a successful bid for 'Deva', while Andy Morgan was moving to France. He ended up changing ‘Deva’, and renamed it as ‘Gnosh Village’. Tony then received yet another shock when his ex-fiancée Julie Matthews returned to Hollyoaks. Tony was delighted to see her and offered her a job at his new restaurant, ‘Gnosh’. However, Izzy got suspicious and did not like the idea of Tony and his ex-fiancée working together. Tony played piggy in the middle, while Izzy and Julie had many run-ins and fights. Izzy then suggested to Tony that they get married, and Tony agreed. However, at the same time, he had a one-night-stand with Julie and asked her to marry him as well, and she accepted. Tony found himself in trouble, as he was simultaneously engaged to two women that he loved, but didn't know which one to choose. Tony made Julie and Izzy each promise to keep their engagement a secret. Tony planed a cookery show, which appeared on live TV. However, it went to pieces when Izzy and Julie had a fight and revealed to each other that they were both engaged to the same man. Izzy dumped Tony and so did Julie, but Tony realized that he only loved one woman: Julie. Tony chased Julie and told her that he loved her, but was shocked to discover that Julie had only returned to Hollyoaks to steal money off of him and that she had a boyfriend who was in prison. Tony was devastated. He learned that he couldn't bring back the past with Julie and that he had to move on.

[edit] Affair with Helen Cunningham

In the meantime, Tony had been a very supportive friend of Helen Cunningham, who was having a marriage crisis. He helped Helen with her new laundrette shop ‘Washed Up’, and they both ended up falling for each other. Tony and Helen’s affair continued, until Sam "O.B." O'Brien saw them together. Tony tried to persuade OB not to tell anyone from the Cunningham family, but OB told his best friend Max Cunningham. Tony promised Max that he had finished with Helen and Max agreed to keep their affair a secret. Tony sold his student house, only to discover that he had been ripped off. He had nowhere to live, so Gordon insisted that he stay with the Cunninghams. The situation was uncomfortable for Tony, as Max put pressure on him to find another place, and Tony still continued his affair with Helen. Eventually, Max had enough of Tony's and Helen’s lies and he told Gordon about the affair, on the night when Gordon presented Tony an award for ‘Businessman of the Year’. Tony moved out, and moved onto the barge, but was shocked when Helen decided to move in with him. Tony did not want to cause any trouble and he told Helen she belonged with Gordon, but he was eventually persuaded to take Helen in with him at the Barge. Soon, an earthquake struck Hollyoaks. The Barge's windows and doors were broken off and the whole of the village wittnesed Tony and Helen in bed together.[citation needed] Feeling guilty, Tony tried to persuade Helen to move back in with Gordon for Tom and Mandy’s sake.

[edit] Relationship with Mandy Richardson

Tony then started dating Mandy, but their relationship was a troubled one. Mandy physically abused him, but the couple resolved their difficulties and married in Rome on February 10, 2005. After a miscarriage, Mandy gave birth to a baby girl called Grace Antonia Helen Hutchinson and Tony was a devoted father to Grace.

However, Grace soon died from suspected SIDS, coincidentally happening on the night that Hannah Ashworth and Nancy Hayton were babysitting. He struggled to accept the fact Grace died of natural causes and placed blame on many people. He then started to become dependent on alcohol and his actions started pushing Mandy away - into the arms of his brother, Dom. He organized councelling for himself and Mandy, but this upset Mandy, who felt as though she had married the wrong brother. Mandy left Tony, leaving him upset and alone. Later, his brother Dom moved back in with him after a fall out over Mandy.

[edit] Relationship with Jacqui McQueen

In fall 2006 Tony enjoyed a fling with Jacqui Malota, but when she violated her curfew from her tag, she had to go back to prison, which caused Tony to break off the relationship.

While Jacqui was in prison, Tony became close to Mandy's friend Becca Dean as she awaited trial and the birth of her baby. He gave her a job and a temporary place to live. At first Becca thought he was interested in her romantically, and was hurt when he told her he wanted to raise her baby if she had to go to prison. Becca initially agreed, but after talking to her estranged husband Jake Dean, Becca decided to let Jake take care of the child.

After Jacqui was released from prison, Tony decided to make another move, but this resulted in an on-off relationship. But, when Davey Thomas forced Jacqui to marry an Albanian immigrant named Aleksander Malota, he was heart broken. Shortly before the wedding, they had a one night stand together. At the wedding reception, Tony gatecrashed the wedding, trying to stop Jacqui from marrying someone she doesn't love. Davey attempted to stop Tony, cutting his lip, but was knocked unconscious. Jacqui went through with the wedding, and left her and Tony sneaking around, trying to hide their relationship. Jacqui said that it had to go on for about two years before she could get a divorce from Alexander. He said no, and they are, again, in an on-off relationship. During Mercedes' and Tina's double wedding, Jacqui admitted to Tony that she was pregnant. He ended the relationship and Jacqui lost the baby. When Jacqui lost her baby Tony beat up Alek as he felt it was his fault he couldn't grieve his baby in public. Tony announces to the shocked onlookers in the dog that the baby was in fact Tony's. Jacqui asks Alek to go back to Albania and he agrees. When Carmel finds out she is shocked and begs him to stay. However when Carmel goes to the chip shop, Alek does a runner back to Albania leaving Carmel devastated.

Since Jacqui lost her and Tony's baby, she felt guilty because she had no way out of her life. She wanted to end her life and her entire relationship with Tony. As Tony could not handle it himself, Jacqui goes and make things worse for herself, when she got arrested by shoplifting...again. So her mum reacts like her family is falling apart with Russ ending his marriage with Mercedes after the revelation of her affair with Warren, Carmel losing Alek for Albania and now this. But Tony couldn't fight on his own with his true feelings for Jacqui. He reveals that he still loves her no matter what. Although Jacqui feels differently. She reacts 'we lost everything.' Tony then decides he needs her no matter what happens, he should always know the fact that he loves her. So when he declares his love at Il Gnosh, she finally accepts him.

After a while Jacqui and Tony decided on adoption but after Jacqui's criminal record was revealed the seven months pregnant social services worker told them that it was unlikely that they will be able to adopt.

[edit] Gaining and Losing Children

When Tony turned thirty, Jacqui planned to reward him with a stripper pole and sexy lingerie. Tina decided to plan a surprise party, and invited everyone in his address book. Tony was tipped off when old friend Jambo sent him a text saying he couldn't make it to his surprise party. Those who did make it were Julie, Izzy, and Tessie. Julie said she wanted to make amends and she was a changed person; Tony sent her away. He was much happier to see Izzy, and they had a good time, with Izzy also managing to make an insecure Jacqui feel better. Tessie showed up in the middle of the party. Due to his bad blood with Tessie, he asked her to leave, but she told him that the last time he'd seen her (eight years ago), she'd lied about not really being pregnant. To his shock, she told him he had a son named Harry. Jacqui forced Tony to choose between her and Harry this resulted in the couple splitting up and making a drunken Tony sleep with Jacqui's sister Mercedes. This causes Merecedes to fall pregnant meaning Tony could become a father for the fourth time.

Tony and Jacqui reconciled, and Jacqui tried to convince Mercedes to let them raise the baby (Jacqui thought the father was just a one-night stand none of them knew). Mercedes instead had an abortion. When Jacqui and Tony began working with Tina to have a child, Mercedes repeatedly threatened to tell Jacqui the truth, but Tony pleaded with her to keep quiet, reminding her how much Jacqui wanted a baby and that Tony had given up seeing Harry because he chose to be with Jacqui, so this was his chance for a baby.

[edit] Tina as Surrogate

Jacqui's sister Tina volunteered to carry a baby for Jacqui and Tony. When Dom, Tony's brother and Tina's husband, found out, he forbade her. Tina and Dom split up because he did not support her when she was being harassed at work, and he went away for a few weeks. While he was gone, Tina inseminated herself with Tony's sperm. When Dom returned and found out, he accused Tony of wanting to get back at him for Mandy having feelings for him. Tony told him he had not been much of a husband or man to Tina, and Dom punched him in the face. The next day, Dom asked him to talk Jacqui and Tina out of this, but Tony refused, leading Dom to weep in his arms. After Tina became pregnant, Dom tried to make her have an abortion, but finally he accepted her decision.
