Tonightwedie (or Tonight We Die) are a South African rock band that could be described as both unique and progressive, while still managing to retain a firm grasp on their roots. They place a strong emphasis on the more melodic and rhythmic sides of hardcore in their music, although their crushing breakdowns, provided by guitarists Shaun Potter and Geoff van Tonder, and intelligent use of time signatures, expressed through the drumming of Mike Pauls and jazz influenced bass technique of Wilbert van Niekerk, can bring forward a more brutal and heavier side to their sound. Vocalist Claude Barnardo makes use of a rare combination of vocal styles, ranging from melodic singing to pitch and tone changing spoken word and shouting, in the same vein as glassjaw or the Deftones.

[edit] General information
According to their profile, the band members refer to themselves as five friends who love playing music together, for and with their friends. They are well known across the country of South Africa for their explosive live performances, and their acoustic shows, in which their songs are converted into an intense, deeply personal live experience. Having won the hearts of their Cape Town audience, the band has embarked on tours up country to the Gauteng province, and played many of South Africas biggest festivals. With their intense yet humble approach to music, and their own DIY ethics, they have become one of the top acts in the local scene, and have been described in an article from the entertaiment section of the Weekend Argus newspaper as "the next big thing."
