Talk:Tony Valdez
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an article about Tony Valdez, NOT a place for IP address 209.179.168.34 to give his point of view about the Mexican-American War. Perspixx 00:12, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tony Valdez is multifaceted
Tony Valdez is being branded as a supporter of ILLEGAL immigration without a shred of evidence to back up this position.
Furthermore, Tony's opinions about the Mexican-American War are referenced in this biographical page solely to label him as a target for nativists and conservatives unhappy with the U.S. immigration laws and the lack of enforcement thereof.
If this is a biographical page about Tony Valdez, why not include the whole spectrum of opinions this fine reporter has expressed throughout his 30-year career and not just those that conservatives cherry-pick????
- This was the most notable controversy he has been involved in, and is worthy of mention on Wikipedia. If you know of any other controversies he has spoken out on which are also worthy, you should add information about those, rather than spamming the article with unsourced information about the Mexican-American War. If people want to know about that war, there's a separate article for it. His comments in the audio link which was included in the article show him to be a supporter of illegal immigration. The article I submitted summarized his comments on the audio, and corrects an error of fact regarding the Mormon Battalion.
Given your past history of vandalism and being banned, I would think you'd want to avoid getting an administrator involved, which I will be forced to do tomorrow if you're not willing to compromise on article content. Perspixx 00:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
ʟ All right, provide the statements that Tony Valdez made that show he is a supporter of illegal immigration. Also, why is it all right for you to reference the Mexican-American War in your simplistic comment: "While a war did occur with Mexico and people on both sides died..." (duh, really?) "... the land Valdez referred to was actually bought by the United States for $15 million through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and later for $10 million more in the Gadsden Purchase."
Finally, your "conclusion" is hardly that of an objective historian... "Following his comments, many people were upset with Valdez for violating journalistic neutrality..." Tony Valdez was giving his OPINION, he was not presenting a newspiece. Also, you forget to mention that many people were also supportive of his comments!
How can you be so blind as to just present one side of the story and then accuse me of vandalism????
"KTTV received thousands of e-mails complaining" Yes, and they also received many in support! It is obvious that you have an axe to grind against Tony Valdez, and if you don't modify your comments, I'll be forced to report you to an administrator.
Good evening...
p.s. Why drag in Xavier Hermosillo??? Who cares what that guy thinks? Is he really such a huge influence on Tony Valdez that he needs to be referenced?

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Valdez & Polish dancer.jpg
Image:Valdez & Polish dancer.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
