[edit] Stewart's Birthplace

There's some confusion about Stewart's birthplace--there's a number of websites that claim Rushville, IN, while a number of others claiming Columbus, IN; both include sites that are a bit more authoritative than just one person's random web posting: ESPN says Rushville, while Fox Sports says Columbus.

I'll try to do more research and find something conclusive in the next few days, but I'll mark it disputed for now. Chuck 13:06, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Good solution. Once you find out, let us know here, and thanks for doing the legwork. -slowpokeiv 23:01, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
I found my copy of Tony's book, and he states that he was born in Columbus. I stand corrected. Kswheels 18:31, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Nice work, Kswheels. I looked in a print edition of Marquis Who's Who at my public library, and oddly enough, it claims Rushville as Stewart's birthplace, but I'd consider Stewart's own book more authoritative than Who's Who. Stewart's book on Amazon has the "search inside this book" feature, so it's easy to verify Kswheels' claim by searching on "Columbus" and "Rushville." (Apparently Stewart never even lived in Rushville until 1992!) I'm removing the disputed tags. Chuck 15:56, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I live in Columbus, Indiana. He was born here. I'm reminded of it almost every week.

[edit] Tony Stewart's name

The following links (non wikipedia) claim that Tony Stewart's middle name is Wayne.

Unless anyone can come up with a source to the contrary, please do not change it to "Maximus".-slowpokeiv 19:45, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

It's pretty obvious to me that "Maximus" comes from a vandal. A really annoying one at that. --D-Day Somebody talk to me. Please somebody! Anybody! 21:14, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name

Did Tony REALLY confirm his name is "Maximus" or "Gladiator of Speed" during the race? I doubt it myself. --D-Day(Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?) 16:25, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reassessment reasoning

Downgraded from A to B class, for the following reasons:

  • WP:CITE - lack of citations, no hard sources.

I would, however, recommend a peer review. -slowpokeiv 13:54, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

I noticed someone wrote Stewart's name as Maximus throughout the article.

To all: Please don't vandalize articles it is not funny and makes them look bad.

You don't really think these malicious halfwits will pay attention to that, do you? Atilla the Editor 04:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You coulda been #1

3 rookie season wins is pretty good. Too bad he blew a win at Lowden, which would have been his first, by running out of fuel. (Who's his crewchief, Forest Gump)? Smokey Bissoon-Dath 04:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Biased

Watch out for biased remarks in the 2007 section. Someone wrote that David Gilliland Caused Stewart to wreck. Stewart was already wrecking before the contanct with Gilliland, which would probably better be described "incidental." I just think that someone may change it back.

In stewarts case, he is always the wreckee, not the wrecker. I think it should stay72.185.44.3 08:14, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Season section

It is not necessary to add in every little detail of what has happened to Stewart this year. The section only needs important information or by the end of the season it will have so much info that longer than the rest of the article. For some reason, some people want to put in details from every single race. That isn't necessary. WildFan48 21:20, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Someone wrote about the Watkins Glen race on this past Sunday stating that Jeff Gordon spun out with 1 lap to go, when in actuality, there was two laps left. So, I changed it. If anyone tries to tell me that I'm wrong, you're an idiot. Proof: http://youtube.com/watch?v=snTRpKe4Rng 71.103.73.167 10:00, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Change In Appearence

I do not know if it is worth mentioning but Tony has changed his appearence this year, his hair is noticeably longer than usual...and he has a great deal of facial hair now and not to mention his weight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.106.73.244 (talk) 20:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Smoke

I believe his nickname was attributed to him because of the smoke he creates after a win, when he is spinning his tires, I will find a source first though before I make any changes. Pandagirlbeth (talk) 20:26, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notable events

Does anyone see a problem with just keeping notable events in the 20008 section? It's what's been done in the past, and I remember being part of various discussions on other drivers' pages and we concluded that notable events should be kept only. Otherwise the section becomes too long. Also, the 2007 section in this article is a good example of what i mean by notable events only. Thanks! Caster23 talk contribs 16:02, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
