[edit] NPOV

This article has series NPOV problems, don't give the guy credit for things he did not single-handedly do.--Jiang 08:51, 8 Feb 2004 (UTC)

It appears to be a slightly altered version of Knowles' website's biography. I'm not sure what the copyright issues are. Jxg 01:29, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Downtown Deli & Café

I edited the name of a former Knowles business from "Downtown Deli" to its full business name, "Downtown Deli & Café." Michaelh2001 08:31, 19 August 2006 (UTC) 08:30, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requested move

  • The governor is more notable than the snooker player by a long shot. Google gives me:
    • 157,000 for +"Tony Knowles" +Alaska [1],
    • 128,000 for +"Tony Knowles" +governor [2]
    • 602 for +"Tony Knowles" +snooker [3]

This article should be moved to Tony Knowles, with a disambig link at the top:

or something similar. — CharlotteWebb 00:44, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Survey

  • Oppose - Tony Knowles, as a snooker player, has international name recognition (except probably the US) whereas I would be surprised if anyone outside the US had heard of the politician. Further, the snooker player has had hours of international live TV exposure which more than compensates for a lack of Ghits. BlueValour 23:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Support - a political leader versus someone who was the fourth-best player in a game that is still only a semi-major sport in the UK. It's not even close. Kirjtc2 02:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Comment - at his peak he was No.2 in the world - pretty good in any sport and at that time snooker was getting huge international audiences. What you have are two people who were successful in their respective fields and I don't see a compelling reason to make this move. BlueValour 02:54, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Oppose. #2 in an internationally televised sport versus someone unknown outside the USA, and of temporary and declining importance. It's not even close. Andrewa 19:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

Tony Knowles (chemist) created. FWIW (not a lot in my view) Ghits 11,000 here. BlueValour 16:11, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Biography infobox

Currently the infobox only gives his office as Alaska governor; his lengthy service as mayor of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, needs to be added. I'll do it myself when I get a chance, if no one else gets to it first. --Yksin 02:21, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
