so i'm wondering whether if the youtube account "thewiinekone" is Tony's account or someone posing as him? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.51.113.17 (talk) 12:41, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
See that? A reference to the NEW YORK TIMES! Just try and delete this page, Admins; I dare you! Ichormosquito 19:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, I wasn't being serious. Ichormosquito 08:22, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Article needs more sources
If only Tony were a little less mysterious... Ichormosquito 08:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
ahem, STOP DELETING MAH POSTS!!! IM TONY HUYNH TOOOO, OMFG. Insanepotato
I'm pretty sure that Tony is Vietnamese not Chinese.
- umm he just said he is chinese in his lost interview video (which he removed). and if you read back on his old blog, he stated there that he is chinese. he's 22. in the youtubestars gallery it says that he is 21. but that was back in august 2006. even if you don't know his birthday, august is almost near so do the math. there's not much sources about thewinekone because he's trying to be "private" now, like duuuuuhhhh what a contradiction. stop vandalizing insanepotato. you're not even contributing relevant material. and i apologize i didnt log in. im lazy. ~ your friendly neighborhood anonymous
- I thought that Tony was Vietnamese because of the Vietnam map board on Tony's room's wall in Internet Creepo OnurTcontribs 14:38, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- probably his family is of chinese race but comes from vietnam and migrated to canada. he has a clock with "hanoi" on it, sure. but it already came from him that he's chinese. and huynh is a vietnamese variation of the chinese surname huang.
- This article titled "Dubbed In English" written on January 9, 2006 by Tony says he's Chinese. Scroll down to see the entry. http://web.archive.org/web/20060128024320/http://thewinekone.blogspot.com/ (Archived January 28, 2006)

- He is a ethnically Chinese. The surname Huynh indicates that his family are Vietnamese with Chinese ancestors. ~ DarkS Umbreon 10:59, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
this page has more sources now. great.
can somebody put something about him being a youtube partner?
[edit] Notability, call for clean up
I removed the notability template after not finding a corresponding discussion on the talk page. If anyone wants to remove this artice, please keep in mind that Huynh is in the highest possible tier with regards to YouTube channel subscriptions and been so for about a year. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following and The person has demonstrable wide name recognition per Wikipedia:Notability (people). Many of the notable YouTubers we list at YouTube celebrities would kill for the attention he gets. I can only guess he doesn't get as much media coverage as some of the others because he likes to maintain a level of privacy. For a more solid claim of notability, his YouTube award was significant enough for a mention in The New York Times. The person has received significant recognized awards or honors, per Wikipedia:Notability (people).
I noticed a few grammatical mistakes, errors of capitalization and YouTube videos without links upon reading the refurbished article, hence the clean up template. Ichormosquito 19:14, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Added citations and fixed the content a bit. Hope this looks much better now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.71.43.203 (talk • contribs)
[edit] Most famous character
Do we have any sort of citation the Internet Creepo is "Tony's most famous character", or is this just speculation? And if it's speculation, why is it on here? 96.224.49.50 23:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Good point. I've seen a few of his videos, but I'm not an expert, so I'm not going to fix it. Others should, though; it sounds like Wikipedia:Fancruft. Ichormosquito 16:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup-type editing
I tried to clean up pieces of the article (by removing small chunks of it), with justifications as follows:
“aged 22” If his birth date is unknown, how can we say that he’s 22?
“in what some see as a grab for publicity” Un-cited, and in fact unciteable Sounds like the opinion of the person who wrote it, but either way, it’s an opinion.
“Despite this, he has a large fan base of loyal viewers.” I think that’s obvious enough, especially without the previous statement.
This is where things get really irrelevant:
“Tony scrutinizes the Hungry Man frozen dinner.” Since when are we summarizing the plot of the videos?
“Tony mentions Hilary Duff.” So?
“Tony's first "interview" with Sean Connery.” And, unless I’m mistaken his last. Or should I say “Only”
“Tony introduces the geeky Internet guy character.” See Hillary Duff justification.
“Tony brings back O'Luminuman and introduces another character named Crabman.”
Crabman’s not a character, he’s a two second long clip.
“Tony showcases his character voices.” Once again, not important to the article.
“Tony rants about MySpace.” As I said before, it’s not significant.
“Tony talks about the board game Battleship.” This is getting painful…
“Tony explains how he became The Wine Kone.” Not quite. And it’s still irrelevant.

[edit] Notes
I've noticed that people have a tendency to add summaries of his videos in the "notes" section of the tables. Why is this? I say that overall what the video is about is of minimal importance, and I've been removing such summaries from time to time with no protest, but lately it seems this sort of thing is being added more and more regularly. If you think that for some reason the information should be included, please say so (and why, of course), in the hopes that we can establish definitively what belongs in the notes section and what doesn't.
Calgary 23:40, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I'll tell you why. When I wanna watch something funny Tony did o said, I'd like to NOT WATCH EVERY VIDEO HE MADE, instead I'd find very convenient to look for the "video notes" on wikipedia and know exactly in wich video he did o said that thing I was looking for.

[edit] Deleted videos
'Klone Talk Blooper Reel' was deleted apparently. Same with 'Going out on a high note'. Does anyone know what's up with that?
- This is not the first case The Wine Kone has deleted a video. He made 'To:Paytotheorderof3x' and 'Three Wise Men' then deleted them. He also uploaded 'The Wine Kone Crashes The CNN/YouTube Debates' to his main account, but he deleted it and uploaded it to his second channel because it is more 'thewinektwo' material, whatever that means.
- This is my hunch for Going Out On A High Note. He used the Sesame Street theme song for that video. As a YouTube partner, he cannot use copyrighted material. Besides, Sesame Workshop is strict with this issue. (Case in point: Children's Television Workshop pulling out two Muppet characters from Batibot.)--Skyllo01 00:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Don't forget Re:One World but he re-uploaded it to his second account. OnurTcontribs 00:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- He re-uploaded Klone Talk Blooper Reel to his second account too. Calgary 00:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- 'Klone Talk Blooper Reel' is back on his main account. So he made it private after all.Skyllo01 13:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Running jokes
Okay, the running jokes section that has just been added is incredibly trivial, completely original research, and a definitive example of "fancruft". The information is of no significance to Huynh's biography, and does not even have very strong importance to the included description of his videos. It is simply a list of observations/details about some of the intricacies of his videos. Surely, this has no place on Wikipedia. Calgary 02:30, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] False Information
Tony Huynh states on his YouTube page (as of 9/19/07) that he often drops false information to confuse Wikipedians. Perhaps this should be stated? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.225.32.175 (talk) 23:46, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, I fail to see how it's notable. After all, for all we know, that very statement is false. If he does indeed do so, it (ideally) shouldn't have any effect on Wikipedia, because wikipedia articles, including this one, are only supposed to refer to reliable published secondary sources, and Tony Huynh is none of these things. Calgary 00:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have a question about the school information. This URL was once in the list of references: The Imprint. It's for a school publication and articles are made public so I don't understand why this article invades a person's privacy. Now it says right there that on January 2006, his course is Arts. Where did that Liberal Studies course on the wiki page come from? Anyway, this Wikipedia page is accused of false information but there's nothing to support that accusation unless there is a reliable published secondary source to prove it.Skyllo01 14:08, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia as a whole is often accused of having false information. At the moment, this particular page seems almost entirely verified, so I don't think there's much of a problem. Calgary 19:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I fail to see why putting this little tidbit of information will help this article at all, becaue it might just be one of Tony's false bits of information. You never know what thewinekone is going to do next. ItachiUchihaArticleForTheWin 18:25, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. And if there is actually a source that comes out that could make this page better, then we could just revise this. Simple as that.Skyllo01 09:21, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thewinektwo Channel
Does it need to be catalogued, or what? CNN showed his CNN/YouTube debate question entry during the debate and I have heard that it is also being used for promotions. Thought it's somehow notable.Skyllo01 09:31, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I sourced it. What I wrote required some original research and/or synthesis on my part, but I think it's verifiable. The problem is that although multiple news sources mention his "cyborg" video, they don't attribute it to him. Ichormosquito 17:34, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Contribution to Pop Culture
We all know TWK is awesome, but are his "contributions to pop culture" really important enough to constitute their own section? Sincerely, Thrashmeister {U|T|C} 05:35, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Probably not. Outside of his videos, where have these things surfaced in pop culture? Ichormosquito 06:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Nowhere, that's where! Calgary 19:54, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps if they get a life of their own, like when TOL (Thinking Of Laughing) catches on and people use it without associating it with The Wine Kone. But for this moment, no. These are just Wine Kone jokes. Skyllo01 06:50, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
yeah, getting a life like being on wikipedia all day editing, and destroying other people's work only because you didn't think of it first. THAT's the kind of life everyone wants... btw, if you had enough FRIENDS you would see more than one is speaking winekonish. ps2: TOL already has a life of its own admmak oct 10 2007

[edit] He was Hoax??!!??
I just saw his new video. I don't really get it.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Msashleychen (talk • contribs) 07:00, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- He posted a frightening video a few hours before the "hoax" one, in which he claimed Google threatened to suspend his account over TOS violations. He pulled that video; and then, in the video you saw, admitted it was all a ruse. I don't think it's worth mentioning. Ichormosquito 18:12, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Is it supposed to be mentioned on the list of videos when it's not accessible to the public anymore? Skyllo01 07:15, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] YouTube Canada
Lots of articles have been written about him promoting YouTube Canada: Canada.com, Globe and Mail, CNW Group, CBC.ca, Market News (with photo, thank goodness). Here's a criticism of his Welcome video as well. I don't know how to put all these in the wiki, sorry about that. Can someone please write about it? Thanks. Skyllo01 00:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Those aren't about him. They mention him on lists of names, with the exception to one, but it only shows him amongst other YT users with no mention or description of who he even is in them (none of the articles do). Internets are good (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 12:55, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Bisexual?
In this video, fellow YouTube celeb Philip DeFranco (sxephil) says that Winekone is bisexual. Is that true? It doesn't seem to be phrased as or work as a joke, but there's nothing in this article. -- AvatarMN (talk) 15:42, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dump
He is featured in the categories chinese canadians and vietnamese canadians. And if you click on either of them it saids these are a list of full "that race" canadians. He can't be both because it saids full. This is obviously a dumb error. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hposda (talk • contribs) 21:54, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
