[edit] Re: furd

That's human error. :-) As you can see from the logs for that image, I deleted two other bad versions, but missed the last one. east.718 at 21:33, March 9, 2008

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cd Jason Mraz Live at Java Joes.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cd Jason Mraz Live at Java Joes.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

This was used at one point, but another user uploaded another copy. Tom(2¢) 02:05, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of Registered Historic Places in Newton, Massachusetts

Hi, Tom, You certainly are the man. Many thanks for your hard work in redoing and adding tables to this list. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 21:25, 22 March 2008 (UTC) Thanks also for your work on individual articles in Newton, adding coordinates, photo requests, etc. clariosophic (talk) 21:36, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your support! Do you think the table format works for these pages? I live in Boston, and I'm planning on taking some photographic bike trips through Boston, Cambridge, Newton, etc. during the spring/summer months. I like the tables, because it allows for images and it is just easier to read overall. Any thoughts? tiZom(2¢) 22:29, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I think the tables do work better. Most of the state National Historic Landmark lists are being or have been converted to tables with pictures. The tables would certainly make it easier for someone to plan a trip. Your bike trips sound interesting. I hope you can get some Newton photos. Good luck. clariosophic (talk) 01:17, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of Registered Historic Places in Uxbridge, Massachusetts

Hi, you've really been busy adding tables. It's great. I've cleaned up List of Registered Historic Places in Uxbridge, Massachusetts and it's ready for a table when you have time. Many thanks. clariosophic (talk) 13:37, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks - didn't realize I missed that one! I wrote a Visual Basic program to help convert them to the table format, so this whole process has been relatively easy.
PS - I would say not to worry too much about the red links for the names - eventually, each of these places should have complete articles (a daunting task!) because they're notable by default (I think...). The red links serve as a reminder of what needs to be done :o) The dates, on the other hand, probably shouldn't be linked... there's really no purpose (and of course we're really not supposed to link the same thing more than once in an article). I wanted to remove those links before, but I couldn't fix the program to do it, so I think I'm going to have to do them by hand.....eventually :o) tiZom(2¢) 15:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your good work. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 20:39, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for your message and for doing the table. I'll see what I can do today to add an infobox and enough filler on each one to make them look better. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 13:32, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sky

Thanks for adding sky to Image:Michelle house American Pie northwest view.JPG. Would you look over these images and add sky as appropriate. Also, please feel free to fix 'em up as you see fit. Thanks. JohnABerring27A (talk) 17:24, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to be honest with you: I'm not that good :o) I get this problem a lot when I take pictures in daylight, and so I've been researching ways to fix the overexposed sky. The three photos I touched up are perfect candidates because there is a high amount of contrast between the sky and the trees (See how dark the trees are? ). All the other pictures have a different kind of tree that lets some light through (See the tree on the left-hand side ), and makes it hard to remove the old sky (If you remove too much, the tree looks like leaves are just floating all around it, and if you don't remove enough, then the branches get a white glow in front of the new blue sky).
I'm still trying to figure out if there are ways to do it, and I'll definitely take a look at the other photos if I can find a good method.
PS - You should open an account at the Commons and upload your images there so that other language wikipedias will have access to your photos directly! tiZom(2¢) 08:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Tom. I ran across this, Category:Images for cleanup, and Category:Images with opaque backgrounds, but none seem to be way to request "sky" be added. I've never used Commons, but I'll give it a try. If you're not already a member, consider joining Wikipedia:Graphic Lab. Thnaks. JohnABerring27A (talk) 14:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
OK, I found a place. I posted a request at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab. JohnABerring27A (talk) 14:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:LucianaSouzaDuosII.jpg

I have tagged Image:LucianaSouzaDuosII.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Melesse (talk) 04:41, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Added a stub for article Duos II. tiZom(2¢) 23:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SVG

Hi Tomtheman5, I have found your massage on the image uploaded by me. I am sorry but I have no practice in SVG. What sould I do to save /transform my image to SVG? Thanks for your help in advance. Best regrds from Kohlasz (talk) 12:15, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I went ahead and converted it for you (You can find it at Image:FPR-pathway.svg). In the future, I wouldn't worry too much about this tag - there are tons of people here who know how to convert images to a scalable vector format, and that tag just notifies them that your image is a good candidate. However, if you're curious, the program that I used to convert this to SVG is called Inkscape. It's open-source, and you can download it at www.inkscape.org.
As a side note, you may want to consider uploading your free images to the Wikimedia Commons, rather than the English Wikipedia. If you upload it to the Commons, then it is immediately available to each of the 255 Wikipedias out there. I'm here if you have any questions about it, just let me know! tiZom(2¢) 17:48, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Tomtheman5, Thanks for the help and the advices about SVG. Thanks for the suggestion about Wiki Commons. All of my images are uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as far as I know - there is a Chemotaxis chapter in more languages about my images. Best regards from Kohlasz (talk) 20:26, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Various event templates

A few templates you created, Template:EventRecordBottom, Template:EventRecordRow, Template:EventRecordBronze, Template:EventRecordSilver, Template:EventRecordGold‎, and Template:EventRecordTop‎ , have been marked for deletion as deprecated and orphaned templates. If, after 14 days, there have been no objections, the templates will be deleted. If you wish to object to their deletion, please list your objections here and feel free to remove the {{deprecated}} tag from the templates. If you feel the deletions are appropriate, no further action is necessary. Thanks for your attention. Bryan Derksen (talk) 01:21, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

If they aren't being used anymore, then by all means, proceed. Thanks for the notice! tiZom(2¢) 03:55, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] {{SVG}}

Would you mind terribly using the subcategories listed in the template's documentation? The base category is crowded enough as it is, without images that have their own subcategory filling it up further. (At least it's not as bad as the Commons category, though (4800+ images in there at the moment)). Thanks! Stannered (talk) 14:34, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Which way?

I'm torn:

List of Registered Historic Places in Worcester County, Massachusetts
or
List of Registered Historic Places in Providence County, Rhode Island

Which way is best? As you have probably seen, I've been struggling with applying the WP:NRHP format to the NRHP lists in Massachusetts... What do you think? tiZom(2¢) 15:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Tom, thanks for your message. I think Bristol County RI would be the ideal, but the problem is numbers with the larger counties. The middle way might be to split out the larger cities & towns into separate lists and combine all the little ones in one county list as you've done in Providence. I like it because then if I want to see all the ones in a particular town, I can click on the City of Town switch button & it will put them in alpha order. In conclusion, I think Providence id the way to go. Best wishes and thanks for all your good work. clariosophic (talk) 15:45, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Middlesex County list

Hi Tom. Middlesex County looks really great. I'm really happy with the list for Newton, my old home town. The pictures really help. You are to be commended. Thanks and best wishes! clariosophic (talk) 14:54, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Flickr images

Hey Ron!

Just wanted to let you know that if an image is labeled on Flickr as non-commercial , then Wikipedia can't accept it. To be allowed on WP, an image licensed Creative Commons needs to (a) allow for commercial use, and (b) allow for edits. So basically that limits us to CC-BY and CC-BY-SA . In the past, I've had luck flickr-mailing the user and asking them to change their license on each image that I wanted to put on WP. Hope this helps :o\ Sorry... tiZom(2¢) 01:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I will check on the images, and if needs be, get in touch with the photographer. Otherwise I will just have to take my own photos next winter when I am over in Portugal myself.

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Joomla logo.png}

Thank you for uploading Image:Joomla logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 19:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Y Done ...hate these bots! I only resized this image! :oP Tom(2¢) 02:11, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
