[edit] Chilwell School article
Hi Tom, I've received permission to recreate the Chilwell School article. I've been in contact with the admin who deleted it, and am trying to get the old text to use as a starting point. Your help in recreating it will be vital, as I don't have direct knowledge of the subject, just a willingness to write. You mention on-going press coverage of the school...Got any links? Also, a list of print media references would be helpful. I know the film was up for a festival or two...did it garner any awards? The work will iniitially be done on my sandbox before going "live". I've already started a heading there, so feel free to put any material or comments there. Thanks! Akradecki 01:08, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again...dropped you a line via email, as well. I've started a draft of the new article on the sandbox...I'd appreciate input! Thanks! Akradecki 20:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Gone live
Hi Tom, It should be about midnight on your side of the Pond, but I just wanted to let you know that I just went live with the Chilwell article. Still need that ref on the music video, though.... Akradecki 00:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Category for Chilwell?
Tom, someone added an uncategorized tag to the Chilwell article, so I threw on a generic UK school category...would you mind following that link and seeing if there are additional or better categories for this article? Also, there category lists a number of Lists of schools in the UK by region, and this should be listed in the appropriate one, but you're better at your local geography than I am! (Hey, I'm in a big desert, you're on an island...you're gonna be better at figuring out the most appropriate one!) Akradecki 01:08, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I've added some more categories for the article, and added the school to the list of schools in the correct region. Thanks, Tom H 12:19, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Big Bang, the Fabric of Space and the Apple
Tom:
I have tried to post the above-referenced article on the Amateur Astronomy page, but I don't think I have been successful.
If you know how to move the article for me, I would appreciate it. I just started using wikipedia today, and it may take me a while to get the hang of it.

- I would suggest you try placing your article on Wikisource, Wikipedia's sister project. This is more suited to articles of your type. You will need to create a user account there, just like you did on Wikipedia. Until you have, I will place your article in my Sandbox so it's kept out of the way. Hope this helps, Tom H 00:46, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Tom:
-
- I saw your last response, thank you.
-
- I barely know how to respond to comments, so I may take a while to figure out how and where to publish articles. But I managed to post the above-referenced article at Amateur Astronomy, which is a journal at http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/Amateur_Astronomy.
-
- I think that is the right place for it, but I will check out the other spot you suggested. Thanks for all your help.

- Hi William, the Amateur Astronomy wiki where you posted your article is a separate project to Wikipedia, but it looks like just the right place to put it. I'll leave the article in my Sandbox for now so you can get to it if you want to post it on Wikisource, or anywhere else. Hope this is all fine, Tom H 01:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

A word of advice, to sign your comments with your signature/username, type four tildes (~~~~). Feel free to ask me if you're unsure how to do anything, I'm happy to help. Good luck! Tom H 01:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Suggest reading discussion page on WASPs
I suggest you please refer to the comments made by Jack Bethune and please do not continue to reverting back to the previous changes.

- I've already read the page. If they're notable, then they can have articles written about them, with proper sources and references. Until this is the case, I suggest you refer to the comments made by Akradecki, and read the policies regarding notability. Tom H 20:14, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Tom, I actually appreciate you butting in. You can also refer to Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Signaleer_--_disruptive_editing_and_sockpuppetry, and see that there's a much bigger problem here, and this is Signaleer's attempt to make it look like others are in the wrong rather than himself. Thanks~ Akradecki 20:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

-
- Well he's clearly a problem... Surely he's done enough by now to warrant being blocked? Tom H 23:30, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia "Promotes" Academic Publishing Wiki
Hi Tom.
I'm writing to update you on the problems I have had finding a home for my article. You were gracious in working with me, so I wanted to inform you about my travails since then.
Basically, I got into trouble for linking from Wikipedia articles on Astronomy and Amaterur Astronomy to Academic Publishing Wiki. You can read all about it on my discussion page.
Anyway, the bottom line is that I found justification for linking from Wikipedia to Academic Publishing Wiki. This is demonstrated by the link under "Further Reading," found at Wikipedia's policy page on original research
Further comment is appreciated.
- I would say that if you link to specific and relevant pages on the Academic Publishing Wiki, then that's fine. Linking to the homepage of the site is a more general link, however, and I would say less justified. Overall, the wiki is a reliable and valid source, and links to its pages from Wikipedia could indeed benefit the developments of wikis in general. However, Wikipedia's guidelines must be observed, so your links must be specific and you must be able to justify them. As long as that is the case, I'd say you're in the clear. Please feel free to keep me updated, I'm happy to help/get involved. Tom H 19:34, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pigeon Holing
So Pigeon Hole is a "proper" subject? :-) Victuallers 00:04, 12 February 2007 (UTC) Tell me about Kurt Godel too - twas he that spotted the fatal flaw in maths and encouraged Alan Turing to invent the Turing machine.
[edit] Sorry
Sorry for changing the UYI II dates i didnt see the artical correctly. Skeeker 01:54, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- No problem, don't worry about it. Tom H 12:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Welcoming Committee
Oy, I noticed your welcome template on the welcoming committee page - very nicely done! There's a bit of coding I've found extremely useful that you didn't use on your page, however, and it would help other users utilize the page.
Instead of adding your own sig, try ~<includeonly>~</includeonly>~~. Once it gets posted, what looks like three tildes turns into four, making it a nice tool to make it useful for everyone. Thanks for your hard work! .ιΙ Inhuman14 Ιι.( talk | contrib) 00:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I've changed it. Tom H 01:16, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dogpile Logo
Tagged for not having a rationale IIRC, If you can provide a detailed one feel free to provide it and ditch the relevant tags. ShakespeareFan00 13:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've added rationale and removed the tags. Tom H 13:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

132.254.101.49 21:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)I am a student of Advanced B and I still do not undestand what we are going to do as a project and what kind of help the teacher is asking for. Anyway, if you can help me I would appreciate it a lot. See you later!!!132.254.101.49 21:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Interesting
I have only mentioned Wikipedia in my classes so far. I have not assigned anything as of yet. For this month, we are doing more traditional composition and class discussion stuff to get prepared.
I will say something in class today. I really didnt expect my student to go into Wikipedia completely blind. Thelmadatter 13:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter
- OK, thanks. Tom H 14:17, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Talkheader
Hi, I saw you added some Talkheader templates to talk pages. You don't have to do that for every article though, only when it is needed. See also this discussion. Garion96 (talk) 06:17, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Tom H 12:51, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hi
Hi Tom, I saw your subtle edit. Didn't know you were so keen on Guns n'Roses! As you see I'm still keen on Schools but I have been experimenting with using imagemaps and timelines. I have been lecturing in ICT at the University of Derby which has been fun. Hope you are still working well. Toys you might enjoy are demo'd at Vauvert and Antoine Polier ... I found the graph on the Italian wikipedia and the image map on "Commons" (There is a tool for making imagemaps) Cheers Victuallers 18:29, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] reminder to mentor
Hola Mentors!
Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors
Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.
I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so they need to be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!
Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter

[edit] New Semester, New Appeal
This semester I am teaching academic writing to a group of teachers at my school. This course starts on Monday Jan 28. I would like to know if you are still interesting in "mentoring". You can see the syllabus at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/SyllabusIf so, please leave a message on my talk page and update the mentor's page Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors, if . If not, please remove your name and information from that page. Thanks! Thelmadatter (talk) 00:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
