[edit] Portland NBDL Team

Your edit to the NBDL page indicating Portland will play in 2009/2010 is incorrect. Just because a lease agreement has been reached doesn't mean that portland officially has a team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.75.46 (talk) 17:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you put a reference link to the final tracklist so others can also see it?Not even a megaupload link is there to confirm it.Lajbi Holla @ me 08:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

True. I just don't want it to get deleted. I digged up the net for more info and found reliable forums have it already posted but they also contain the download link as well, so it won't be appropriate to cite them.Lajbi Holla @ me 19:01, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

The team that played in Florence, South Carolina as the Pee Dee Pride is awaiting completion of an arena project in Myrtle Beach/Conway, South Carolina.

The ECHL membership in Reno, Nevada is also awaiting completion of an arena project.

The Gulf Coast Swords membership will play in Bradenton/Sarasota.

I was looking at North American Professional Sports Teams website (www.angelfire.com/ns/galley/napsl/napsl1) and notice that you are adding at

least two teams for the 2007/2008 seasaon. They are Conway, SC. and Ontario Cal. Would like to know if this is true or not.

Also from the same website Reno Nv, will not be playing in 2006/2007, is this true?

Also from the website they have put Gulf Coast Swords, which might be playing this season, in Tamp. According to your website this team is in Sarasota, so who is right?

Thank you in advacne

[edit] About OrphanBot's deletion of the Pee Dee Cyclones logo

I thought sports logos were exempt, because it being a team logo IS a source. I think OrphanBot needs to be shut off for awhile so it can be fixed. Tom Danson 04:02, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

It is sometimes, but not always, the case that the copyright holder for a logo can be determined simply from looking at the logo. OrphanBot can't tell one case from another, so it won't tag logos as unsourced itself, but at the same time, it assumes that any logo that's been tagged by someone else is one where the source isn't self-evident. --Carnildo 06:59, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ah, you're confused

As I said, my deletions were under CSD A1/A3/A7 -- I think you've got those mixed up with CSD G1/G3/G7, based on your complaints. Try reading the CSDs again. Best wishes, Xoloz 23:44, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About Fort Wayne Freedom

Please stop replacing my original table that I had there before. I have no problem with you doing tables for all of the other UIF teams, and I understand your need for consistency, but I assure you that I spent a lot more time on the NFL look-a-like table for the UIF Template than you did for that very basic table that you have created. I have almost done all the editing for that page, and I added most the information for that page and spent hours retreiving information. So your edit to my table can also be considered as vandalism also. Thank you. --Manningmbd 13:40, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fort Wayne Freedom Update

Please update the status on this article as to if the Freedom are moving to af2, or revise your last statement saying that an announcement is expected on October 12th. Thank you. Manningmbd 01:17, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fort Wayne af2

There is no official af2 team in Fort Wayne. You need to reread the article you cited. Until there is a formal announcement from af2, the team does not exist. Nolesrule 16:26, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Fort Wayne af2, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Fort Wayne af2. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Kinu t/c 06:37, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tampa Tide

First off, great job on doing an article on all the NIFL teams and as many arenas as you could find that didn't have articles! About the Tampa Tide, however. I know they will be at the Florida State Fairgrounds, but in the FSF article, you state they will play at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center. I don't have anything to back this up, but I think it would be more likely they would play at the Expo Hall, which is where the NHL's Lightning played for the first few years of their existance. Have you seen anything saying they will play at the Equestrian Center? Thanks. Patken4 23:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] af2 possible expansion

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:FortWayneFusion.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:FortWayneFusion.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] American Professional Football League

I have tagged the page you created, American Professional Football League, for speedy deletion as a repost of previously deleted material. Please see Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2006 December 27 and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/American Professional Football League. Since the concern was verifiable reliable sources the article should probably not be recreated without independent sources. Eluchil404 16:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tom, I'm giving you one last chances at this artilce. I've moved the content to User:Tom Danson/American Professional Football League. This is subpage in your user space that you can develop the page. One source is a decent start but you need a couple more independent sources to show that this league has some notability and can verify some more of the claims. By keeping it in your userspace, you can hunt for sources on or off the web. You can run the article past me before reposting it if you want; but if you don't improve it, I'll delete it a week from now.
Consider this your last chance with this article; repeated posting of essentially the same material isn't highly thought of and would result in permanent protection of the deleted page if it went on much longer. --Robdurbar 18:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

I have also deleted Missouri Minutemen, Kansas Koyotes, & Iowa Blackhawks as {{db-repost}}. If you disagree with the original AFD result, you need to use deletion review. Otherwise, you should take Robdurbar's advice and address the issues raised in the AFD. If you would like me to copy these 3 pages to your userspace also, let me know, but since you reposted exact copies, I'm assuming you already have offline versions. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 13:02, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stop being such a psycho about af2 expansion

If you wanted total control, you should have accepted my admin nomination. There are several unsourced cities as it is, and you actually removed a reliable active source once, which can get you blocked. I suggest you mind your own business. Tom Danson 22:22, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Look, I made a statement on the talk page about adding new unsourced expansion items and no one objected to it and one person actually agreed with me, so I am sticking to it as a maintainer. How hard is it to actually source an expansion rumor? There's no point in randomly putting city names up, or you might as well just dump the section entirely. And I don't have the time to be aan admin here. I spend most of my time running ArenaFan.com and only glance over the AFL stuff here long enough to correct erros that have been introduced by other users. Nolesrule 01:23, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Street Love.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Street Love.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 23:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Street Love.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Street Love.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 23:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Roman Catholic musicians category

Just wanted to say i'm quite pleased that you acted so strongly aginst the deletion of the Roman Catholic musiciand category. I felt the same way. And yes certain people on Wikipedia are Anti-Catholic. I will soon put in a request for the deletion of other categories such as Muslim Musicians and Jewish Musicians etc. If we Catholics can't have one then neither can they! Regards. sl84 19:41, 26 March 2007 (GMT)

I don't know if we should engage in revenge. I'm thinking of starting a Category:Performers of Roman Catholic music as that might be less controversial. This may also have the problem of not properly dealing with musicians like Marie Keyrouz, but still better than nothing.--T. Anthony 10:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Original research

Original research includes things like "if you listen you'll hear it", "I've been there and seen it", etc. A claim has to be given a verifiable source. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Your understanding of Wikipedia seems to be lacking here; it's not me but our policy that requires sources. If it makes you feel better to think that it was just the stubbornness of an individual that forced you to give sources, I suppose that I can't stop you — but it wasn't. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:05, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Regarding various standings for indoor-arena teams.

Dear Tom Danson, I do those changes for statistical reasons. If one team has a better division and/or conference record, they that team is slightly better than the other (for now).

That's my reason, Alakazam

[edit] Your message

Leaving aside the incivility, note:

  1. One doesn't have to be an admin to place these templates on articles.
  2. Given that you're not the person who up-loaded them, and so far as I can tell are not involved in the associated articles, I have no idea why you're getting involved. Moreover, you are presumably only guessing at their sources — that isn't good enough.
  3. You removed the "no fair-use rationale" templates without providing the rationales.

Your time would be better spent learning to use edit summaries and to edit with courtesy and understanding of Wikipedia guidelines and policies. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:52, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

How did you know where another editor found the images?
You didn't give a fair-use rationale; you merely removed the template asking for one. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:58, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

You said: "You might not believe it, but I actually uploaded the original images, and somebody else replaced my files with theirs. I don't know why they would do such a thing, but please stop removing the sources which I got the original images from."

As this, this, and [1] show, your claim is simply false — unless you're saying that you are in fact Demonskyline7 (talk · contribs) and Feekee (talk · contribs). Are you? --Mel Etitis (Talk) 07:28, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Why is your claim not borne out by the image histories? Are you saying that someone overrode your image and then deleted your role from the history? I have to tell you that that's impossible. Perhaps you could provide the relevant diffs from your own Contributions history. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:39, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:WeTheBest.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:WeTheBest.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC). [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:FromNothinToSomethin.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:FromNothinToSomethin.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tony Sidaway 19:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:FromNothinToSomethincover.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:FromNothinToSomethincover.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use.

Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Tony Sidaway 20:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Don't blame an automated process because you didn't provide necessary information when you uploaded an image, especially when the notice you receive from the bot tells you exactly what to do to resolve the problem. Wikipedia may be "free", but it still has licensing policies, which are precisely what allows Wikipedia to function as it does. MSJapan 16:53, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate Image:AustinToros.PNG

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:AustinToros.PNG, by Fuzzy510 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:AustinToros.PNG is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:AustinToros.PNG, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate Image:AustinToros.PNG itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:09, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Leage Maps

I am sorry for the delay. I do not know if you still want it but here is a link to the main image I use for the maps. [4]

I have been away from wiki for a while.

I get the locations of the teams from Our Sports Central. If you click on a particular league they have a map for each one.

Again sorry for the delay. --MJHankel 21:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Rich Boy.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Rich Boy.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Springbob Squirepants 19:19, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:OklahomaCityBlazers.JPG

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:OklahomaCityBlazers.JPG.

If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 13:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removing album dates

If you look in the infobox, it clearly states "Released" in the past tense. This is why I removed the information, and because it is already listed within the article. Most dates are tentative and are charged multiple times before release. So until it is official, I removed it. Quite a few people have been removing this information as well. --Ayoleftyz (talk) 19:48, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 2XL (band)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2XL (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of 2XL (band). [edit] Placement of Buffalo, Toronto, Montreal, and South East Asia in current PBL teams box

I undid the edit of the template again because the 2008-2009 lineup is still very much in flux. It is rumored that the Jacksonville SLAM will not even be a part of the league. It is possible the Dallas Defenders will also fold and / or be replaced by the Texas Tycoons of the ABA. There is also the possibility of the Halifax Rainmen, Manchester Millrats, Quebec Kebekwa, and even teams from the Continental Basketball Association coming on board. And no one has said which divisions anyone will be in for 2008-2009.

I am just about as eager as anyone to put in the new lineup, but until we know for sure what it is, changing the template now is too soon. LightningMan (talk) 04:26, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Thanks for uploading Image:QuebecKebs.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Fargo Force

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Fargo Force, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 03:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template: Minnesota Sports

ccwaters mentioned on the discussion on the article that the threshold for the article seems to be major-junior and Division I teams and above. Thus no NCAA Division III, Minnesota Junior Hockey League, or other such teams. Defining the template to be major-junior and NCAA D-I and above is fine with me. Limasbravo (talk) 12:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, normally I think of "Major Junior" as the Canadian leagues, more specifically the leagues the NCAA deems "professional" thus their players can't get NCAA eligability. I'm thinking ccwaters might be thinking that USA junior hockey doesn't qualify, but maybe the USHL does? I guess I'm okay either way. Limasbravo (talk) 18:20, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
