Tomu Sione

His Excellency Sir Tomu Malaefone Sione, GCMG, OBE, is a political figure from the Pacific nation of Tuvalu.

Sione served as Governor-General of Tuvalu from 1993-1994, as the representative of HM Queen Elizabeth II, who is Tuvalu's head of state.

Somewhat unusually for a former Governor-General, Sione stood for Parliament after standing down from this office, and was elected and served as Speaker of the Parliament of Tuvalu. He represents the constituency of Niutao.

A subsequent position to which Sione was appointed was as Chairman of the parliamentary caucus in the Administration of Prime Minister of Tuvalu Apisai Ielemia.

He was created GCMG in 2001.
