Tomtabacken is a summit that with its 377 meters over sea level is the highest summit of the Swedish province of Småland, the South Swedish Highland and the countrypart Götaland. Tomtabacken is situated in the southern part of the Nässjö Municipality, about 22 km southwest from the main city. On the summit that is quite flat, there is an outlook tower from where you can see miles and miles over the Småland landscape.

In January the average temperature on the summit is -4 °C, which is as cold as e.g. in Dalsland or in Uppland miles north of Tomtabacken. Not only in the winter the temperature is lower than that of the nearby surroundings. In July the average temperature is 14 °C, the same as in Jokkmokk at the Arctic circle.

There are two ways of getting there: By foot wandering along the trail of Höglandsleden that passes just beside the outlook tower, or there is the possibility to go by car from the small towns of either Malmbäck or Vrigstad. There is a car park near the outlook tower (with place for about 5 cars). From there you have to walk a very short distance. On the tower is a sign telling that you climb the tower at your own risk.
