Tomentose

Tomentose is a term used to describe plant hairs that are bent and matted, forming a woolly coating. Often the hairs are silver or gray-colored. Many species of plants that have this type of structure have been named for it, including Achillea tomentosa, Aristolochia tomentosa, Opuntia tomentosa, Paulownia tomentosa, Rhodomyrtus tomentosa, and Uncaria tomentosa.
